The sad thing is, is that people still dont realize the effects of the rampant use of amphetamines or 'greenies.' Greenies have shown to improve hand-eye coordination, improve alertness and focus. Maybe people or fans dont care about this type of abuse because you cant see the physical impact to the body compared to what steroids does to the body. Amphetamines kill more MORE users than users of steroids. And the MLB is the ONLY professional sports league not to ban aphetamines as a performance enhancing drug. The NBA, NFL, NHL, Olympic Comittee all ban it.

Their is enough blame to go around for the drug abuse of athletes. Of course the clubhouses, managers, general managers, owners, etc should be held accountable. But whenever it comes down to it, it is the player that is injecting, swallowing, or rubbing steriods into them. It is all about ethics and some of these players, owners, and managers don't have a good grasp on what is morally right and what is morally wrong.Comment

Re: Gee what a surprise - Bonds out for 1/2 to whole year!
I think what USCTrojan is trying to say, is that we are crucifying all these players for taking something that doesn't help hand-eye coordination, but we are completely forgetting about amphetamines, which would help in baseball much more than steroids, its probably because the media isn't covering it as much.Comment

Originally posted by mattstl77I know what he is trying to say. But I am trying to say that ALL drugs are wrong, whether or not they enhance performance or not. I am not trying going to defend steriod use, even if it doesn't enhance abilities that much.on these thread and finally few people agree. I just hope more people take this approach as you and a few others have and realize there needs to be consistence in the drug policy.

Originally posted by dwesnycWhy is it cheating if mlb wasn't banning it. I mean mlb baseball took drug tests last yearand found something like 30 percent of the players were postive for steriods and yet that was okay till this year. So its illegal this year and therefore a "cheat". But if it was okay before that then why should they be considered cheaters? Blame MLB for there awful steriods policy and not making it banned a long time ago. Not the players for doing something that wasn't causing them to be fined, suspened etc.

Re: Gee what a surprise - Bonds out for 1/2 to whole year!
I'm just glad the Giants didn't win the World Series that year. In fact, I'm glad that none of the big three roided-up sluggers--Bonds, McGwire & Sosa--ever won a World Series. It's bad enough that they've sullied the individual records.Comment
