The sad thing is, is that people still dont realize the effects of the rampant use of amphetamines or 'greenies.' Greenies have shown to improve hand-eye coordination, improve alertness and focus. Maybe people or fans dont care about this type of abuse because you cant see the physical impact to the body compared to what steroids does to the body. Amphetamines kill more MORE users than users of steroids. And the MLB is the ONLY professional sports league not to ban aphetamines as a performance enhancing drug. The NBA, NFL, NHL, Olympic Comittee all ban it.

Boy you are all about the "greenies" huh? I agree, someone should look into that. They need to be consistent on all types of drug abuse; whether or not it enhances their play or not.

Their is enough blame to go around for the drug abuse of athletes. Of course the clubhouses, managers, general managers, owners, etc should be held accountable. But whenever it comes down to it, it is the player that is injecting, swallowing, or rubbing steriods into them. It is all about ethics and some of these players, owners, and managers don't have a good grasp on what is morally right and what is morally wrong.

I think amphetamines are the next logical step. Remember, baseball is years behind other sports in regards to a policy for performance enhancing drugs. It will take some time for them to incorporate other drugs such as amphetamines. With Congress now involved MLB isn't going to be able to just revise their steroid policy and call it a day.

I think what USCTrojan is trying to say, is that we are crucifying all these players for taking something that doesn't help hand-eye coordination, but we are completely forgetting about amphetamines, which would help in baseball much more than steroids, its probably because the media isn't covering it as much.

I know what he is trying to say. But I am trying to say that ALL drugs are wrong, whether or not they enhance performance or not. I am not trying going to defend steriod use, even if it doesn't enhance abilities that much.

My god I've spent numerous hours wasting my company's time on these thread and finally few people agree. I just hope more people take this approach as you and a few others have and realize there needs to be consistence in the drug policy.

I'm just glad the Giants didn't win the World Series that year. In fact, I'm glad that none of the big three roided-up sluggers--Bonds, McGwire & Sosa--ever won a World Series. It's bad enough that they've sullied the individual records.
