Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
Gil Meche has been scratched from his scheduled start against the Yankees tonight, possibly signaling that he's about to be traded.
We're guessing that Meche wouldn't have made it to any National League team on waivers, so if he's being dealt, it's probably to an AL contender. The Rangers and Red Sox might be a couple of possibilities. The decision to scratch Meche means Cha Seung Baek will start tonight and be followed by Felix Hernandez and Jarrod Washburn in the rotation. Francisco Cruceta might be called up to join the rotation if Meche is dealt. Aug. 22 - 6:55 pm et
His numbers aren't at all inspiring.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. We’re talking about on the biggest stage, in New York, playing out of position and asked to hit fourth for the New York Yankees. I mean, that’s never been done.” - Sheffield on SheffieldComment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
Gil Meche, much like sending down Hansen, is too late. It'd concern me more if Theo made this deal considering how reactive it would be. We send out Kyle Snyder to snap a 5 game losing streak after Jason Johnson starts off the biggest series of the year... and NOW we need Gil Meche?Comment

Pedroia doesn't look all of that 5'9 he's listed at. Tejada is supposedly his same height and he's gives a much taller look.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. Tough loss, I stayed up all the way for this one.
If Manny's hammy wasn't hurting him we might have had a shot in the 9th. Crisp got on with a Maicer error (could be ruled a hit too I suppose) and stole second. Loretta grounded out and Papi was walked.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. You're a better man than I am. I only made it until Pedroia's first at bat.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
Surprised to see Pedroia batting 2nd tonight.
Loretta has played alot of games in a row and def. needs the rest, but pretty un-Tito like to go with a rookie so high in the lineup.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried.
