Pedroia just got fooled on the offspeed pitch, but he made Escobar work for it. You can really tell how advanced his strike zone discipline is the way he takes pitches and fouls off fringe strikes.

Tavarez SUCKS. He can't even get through 1 inning. 1 out, runners on first and second 5-3 Sox still.

Hey guess what! Timlin sucks to. Bases loaded 1 out. 5-4 Sox, not for long though...

Timlin gets lucky. Strikes Salmon out, and then gets a chopper back to him and tosses it to Lopez for the force out.

And the 6 game losing streak is over! Foulke came in for 2 outs in the 8th allowed 1 guy to get to 3rd. Papelbon came in to strike out Cabrera. Then gets Vlad to pop up to Pedroia, then struck out Rivera, and Quinlan flyed out to Crisp in center.

And don't let Pedroia going 0-4 scare you. He had two hits stolen from him, 1 liner that the second baseman had to really range for and 1 line drive to the left center gap but Chone Figgins got to it because hes so fast and it could have been a double if it fell.

Word from both the papers is that 2006 first round pick (28th overall) Daniel Bard has signed with the Red Sox. Somewhat good news here, and it indicates the organizations' commitment to adding talented young players.

Good news. I figured with him not attending class that they must be close. Not sure if any of you watched him in the College World Series but he throws some serious gas.

I stayed up until the end of the 8th inning and then was knocked out. I felt confident Papelbon would knock them out though.

Watching Foulke pitch well is a really great sign for next year. I would vote to possibly keep Papelbon in the pen another year. With a Foulke/Papelbon combo.

Great news for sure since he really dropped in our laps. Easiest 98 I've ever seen.

Nice to see they finally won (even though i didn't literally see it). If Manny goes on the DL then second place will be hard to come by in the AL East. I'm glad I won't be awake to watch another Josh (Trash) Beckett outing.

I'm not sure if Beckett is actually pitching well or if he's benefiting from a team of free-swingers because I am peaking in and out. But whatever it is I'll take it.

                            I've seen it all now.

Coco Crisp has been IBB with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs.

I don't care who is hitting behind him, he can't be much worse at this point. (Coco is 0-3 thus far). Gladly take it though.

                              Sh*t

Beckett's first good start in ages, and he has to depart in the 7th with a blister problem.

Did you see Willy Mo throw out Rivera? It was a questionable call but I'll take it anyday. It was accurate and never touched the ground which is pretty impressive. 2-1 Sox in the 8th.
