Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006

Pedro played the Red Sox that offseason into getting more money from the Mets, they whined about not getting any respect when they were willing to make him their highest paid pitcher. I'd give him a standing O, but he's less deserving of one than Damon.

Anyone see that story about Hanson? They may try him as a starter. So long as the pen doesn't need him, it won't hurt to give it a shot, though it may be better to wait until next year.

I saw a little headline about Henson in the intro to Gammons column but it's insider only so I wasn't able to read it.

And I'm not buying in to Johnny and Pedro being much different. They wanted the highest dollar they could get and they got it. That's great for them, they earned it. But I don't really think they played their period as FA's much differently. All I hear from Johnny's mouth is how the RS disrespected him, same sound different instrument.

A little bit of the Gammons article(as I figure it's against the TOS/Illegal to post the entire thing)

The story is right. It's been discussed, as he stated. But that set off the day's talk-radio theory that the Red Sox all along planned to make Hansen a starter once Jonathan Papelbon moved into the role of the closer because they were using Hansen in Double-A in three-inning stints instead of a closer role.

Which, of course is silly. "We want Craig to develop all his pitches," said Theo Epstein when Hansen went to Portland. "He knows how to close.I'm not worried about that. But in the major leagues, you can't get by throwing one pitch, as he found out last September against the Orioles. We want him learning to use his pitches, develop his sinker, his slider and his changeup, so that when he gets to the major leagues he can pitch."

          Thanks Longhorn.

I read about him turning in to a starter on SoSH a few times but isn't his pitching motion a little too violent to be able to pitch long stretches at a time?

            No problem, man.

And yeah, his throwing motion wouldn't be good for a starter, he'd blow out his arm after two or three starts, IMO.

Gotta say Nixon has really done a great job of being patient at the plate. Didn't really know he was that patient. Maybe it's cause he's been injured so much the past couple years that I haven't been able to see him get in a groove.

Nice win. The Sox own the Orioles now, and it wasn't that long ago it was the other way around. DiNardo still stunk, but he got away with it and the offense came to play. Off day tomorrow...

Delcarmen down, Holtz up. Doubtful we see Holtz against the Yanks in anything more than a one batter deal to get Matsui or Giambi out, though both of them hit lefties well.

                      Anyone having problems with MLB.tv?

Everytime I try to load the game up, it just says "Reload this page to view media" but everytime I reload it just keeps saying the same message.

Can anyone who lives in Boston area and has heard RS games on WEEI, is whoever calls the game any good?

I'm sick of MLB.TV crapping the bed. I doubt I'll sink 80 bucks for the season this year with how crappy it's been. I just purchased another month of it for 15, but I could get the radio broadcast for the season for the same price. I was just curious about the quality of it.

The WEEI guy isn't too shabby.

                          **** giambi.

The radio guy isn't that bad. And Giambi just hit a 2 run homer off of Beckett. I hate first innings....

Why does that bastard sweat so damn much? Isn't he a DH? He doesn't do a single thing but bat? (and maybe inject)
