Thats what I like to hear, dedication from the Red Sox faithful.

Lester's 4 walks was really the only negative in his performance last night.

David Wells' simulated game went well today. Looks like he's on his way back.
He's going to throw at least one more simulated game next week before making any rehab starts though.

This is why we don't friggin bunt. Youk is our most patient hitter going against Redman who has thrown 117 pitches. He was bound to get something good to hit and we waste his at bat and get the runner thrown out.

It seems like every time we try to play small ball somebody gets thrown out or can't drop down a bunt.

I agree, more often than not, bunting just gets the Sox in trouble. I'd rather see a hit and run.

Good to get back to back 1-0 wins, and three shutouts on the homestand thus far (after having none all season). Today's was less impressive though because not only was it a shutout against the Royals, but Doug Eddings seemed to have some kind of phobia with calling balls. He was terrible.

This offense needs to get going though. Its pretty bad when you only score 7 runs in a series, at home, against the Royals.

Apparently the Red Sox liked Beckett's outing

"Terry Francona announced that Josh Beckett agreed to a three-year deal with the Red Sox. More details to follow."

It was only a matter of time until they got him locked up to an extension.

Smart move to lock Beckett up for a few more years. He's likely to get better and would have made a ton of money as a free agent after the 07 season.

                  Here's the numbers:

                  $2 million signing bonus
                  $6 million salary for 2007
                  $9.5 million salary for 2008
                  $10.5 million salary for 2009
$12 million at club option for 2010. The option becomes automatic if Beckett makes 28 starts in 2009 or he has a total of 56 starts in 2008 and 2009.
There is also a $2 million buyout clause on the option to make the guaranteed total $30 million.

Very fair deal IMO. He probably would've gotten close to 6 in arbitration next year anyways.

Thats a good deal for both sides because in 2008 he is probably our ace so he starts to make more money.

How many people are going to be free agents after this season is over? I know Nixon off the top of my head but thats it.

We play Texas today in a make-up game of the mothers day game that got rained out. Todays line up is pretty wacky.

                      CF Coco Crisp
                      2B Mark Loretta
                      1B Kevin Youkilis
                      LF Manny Ramirez
                      C Varitek
                      DH Pena
                      RF Kapler
                      SS Gonazlez
                      3B Cora

And of course Schilling is pitching after coming off of his best game of they year last Saturday. Hopefully we can end our homestand with a win and then hit the road for 2 series against Seattle and Oakland.

Took awhile to get to this game, but the Sox and Rangers finally played their make-up game and the Sox take the season series from the Rangers. Pretty back and forth affair today. Nice double by Wily Mo (give the assist to Derosa) and nice relief work by Delcarmen and Timlin in Papelbon's absence. Now comes the always dreaded west coast trip...

The Sox are putting a beat-down on the Mariners tonight. Manny just made it 8-0, the fifth homerun on the night for the Red Sox by the 5th different hitter.

Ouch, I feel Jamie Moyers' pain. 8-0 in the fifth inning. The Red Sox are blasting these balls out of the park, Youk, Ortiz, Manny, and Gonzalez have all hit a homerun and Kapler hit one to the track.

M's are mounting a bit of a comeback here, 8-4 with 2 down in the 7th. With Delcarmen coming on now, and both Timlin and Papelbon in the pen it's not yet panic time for the Sox.
