Who's going to want to take on that contract? The Mets way overpaid for him. Who wants to take a contract like that on for a guy who's never hit 30 homeruns, has hit over .278 once in the last 4 years and no longer runs?

He gets paid Superstar money, but he's never ever put up supserstar numbers.

Beltran gets his first hit wich is a two Run HR, then refuses to come out to a curtian call, until J.Franco tells him to get his *ss out there and take it, the he does. They say the Boo's have been getting to Beltran. Well guess what Beltran this is NY, get used to it and stop crying. I love having Franco on this team, he a one of the best guy's to have on the bench, I love him...

there's more behind it, Beltran was being a baby about the fans booing him, and what did you think Willie was going to say, ofcourse he's going to protect his player. I like Beltran, and all I'm saying is, he better come out next time, I don't care about the lime light thing your talking about, it's a freaking Curtain call for gods sake not american idol.

Ted Williams refused to take a curtain call for his entire career, and no one around here seems to mind much (though he did finally tip his cap to the crowd at the '99 All-Star Game).

Re: No Curtain Call for Beltran

                        Yeah, there's a WHOLE lot behind it. Before I start, I too, am a Mets fan...since 1968.....

The problem with too many Mets fans is that they're out of their minds and they must really think the players don't know how idiotic they can be.

After last year, anyone would know that Beltran is going to be VERY tentative with his expressions and baseball demeanor this season. I mean, you have fans screaming all last season to get him OUT of town (no, he did not perform/play well)..then for some unforsaken, God-forbidden reason, you has legions of dummies...at Shea on OPENING DAY....BOOING Beltran by his SECOND AT BAT?!?!?! Give me a freakin break! On OPENING DAY?!?!?

Those stupid boo-birds at Shea perhaps should take a cue from Brewers fans. Prince Fielder started his season oh-for-nine...and guess what? To ENCOURAGE ands show SUPPORT for their player, the FANS in MILLWAUKEE gave him nothing but standing O's....even though he struck out in about half of those AB's.

Beltran is WELL AWARE that if he goes oh-for-four tomorrow night, the BOOING WILL start up again. Who do I blame? Those fans without enough sense to use common sense. They listen to the shyt on The Fan, the misguided spewing of half-baked opinions by too many of The Fan's hosts, the believe every damn thing they read in the various sports pages, etc.

In time....I believe Beltran WILL warm up to the fans in a more open way...but understand..I heard some callers the night after the Mets opener, talking about he's got to get out of town.....

                        I'm out,

You are correct. I didn't add the two together. So I will amend it, he's hit 30 hr's once in his career, and he needed help from the bandbox known as MinuteMaid Park to get there.

I still stick by the he gets paid superstar money yet doesn't put up superstar numbers. He's a good player, but he's not a great player. And he's getting paid like a great player.

come on man, you know you will get booed in NY when your not playing well, so I have nothing wrong with fans booing, thats just how it is here, and you should know this. For you to call Mets fans that are booing stupid, I say that comment is straight up stupid. If it the first 3 games of the season or the last 3, if your not playing well you will get booed, and if you are playing well, you will be cheered, thats how sports go here in NY period.

IMO he doesnt have to come out at all if he dont want to. hes not that kind of show boat the Mets fans are used to. i like when players do it dont get me wrong, but if a player does not want or doesnt feel right about doing it. who cares, ya know!!

                              lets go mets!!

also FF i know where you coming from etc and see your points. but like i said above he is not a show boat like we have had in the past 86 mets etc.

                              seacrest out lol

                                lets go mets!!
