Re: Official San Diego Padres Thread - 2006

Two Pitchers i see you guys leaving out are Jon Adkins and Seth Etherton. Adkins has had a very good spring (1.29 ERA) and Etherton was a rule 5 pick so the Padres either have to keep him or offer him back to the Royals.
Etherton has not pitched particularly well so i would not be surprised if he is returned to KC. Clay Hensley has been awful this spring with a 14.14 ERA he has allowed 10 more earned runs than Adkins in the same amount of innings (7).

Don't worry about Clay he will be fine when the season starts....if you looked into the spring numbers for the pitchers then you'd have to say goodbye to Chris Young whos era is a Whooping... 29.00 ERA

As for Jon Adkins I really don't know about him because they have been pushing Ryan Meaux and Steve Andrade. I believe they have been pitching better and more consistent in what the Padres are looking for. I believe If I remember correctly...Jon has only pitched in limited action.

Clay Hensley is a fly-ball pitcher.

Where did he come from? why hasn't he been mentioned in articles here in the Union Tribune or North County Times, when they have articles up about the bullpen?

Right now there bullpen is in shambles.

              CP: Hoffman
              8th: Linebrink
              7th: Hensely
              LHP: Embree

then you have a drop off there is talks that Ryan Meaux will get a spot with his good performance right now going 4 2/3 innings of scoreless innings. Then they might put 1-2 starters in the bullpen or Towers says he's going to look through the waiver wire and see if anyone is out there. They wanted Brian Sikorski(sp?) as a MR, but he hasn't worked out as he has a ERA of 7.94 I believe.

Missed it because of school. The 7 K's are encouraging, but 3 ER?

At least he has a better ST ERA than Woody.

Yeah 3 ER in 4 Innings....It seems like Chan Ho Park maybe getting his stuff together since being the closer for Korea. I would take him in the rotation over Woody...Man we need to do something about him in a hurry

The Padres would save more money if they cut him... or if they keep him in long relief since every start he makes he earns more money.
