It's hard to guage what Phillies fans think of the team from here in N.Y. I did not know that he was hated so much. So that's why the stadium is never full even when you guys are riding high, huh?

We're talking about Charlie Manuel...the same guy that put our most feared hitter 6th in the lineup for the first month of the season...with David Bell batting behind him...

He's been crucified since his hiring, and it won't stop until he's gone. We wanted Leyland, you know, the guy that has Detroit playing great baseball right now...

It's only May. As bad as Lieberthal is, he's a better option than Fasano and Ruiz. Victorino has played well, but we need Rowand back. He's more of a threat in the lineup, and it gives us Victorino's great bat off the bench.

Citizen's Bank Park - relatively brand new

Shea - a old hulking piece of garbage

plus - putting this series midweek will hurt crowds...

this will be a great fight to the finish... ps - just remember 20 years ago, the Phils finished 2nd too... 20 + games back

Should have won two, but at least we won a game...
We allowed the Mets to come back from at least 3 runs down in each game. Good news is we jumped on them early. Bad news is our pitching let them back in it.

Milwaukee and Washington coming up at home.

And Thursday crowd-51,000. What's your point? I'm sure the Mets outdraw the Phillies, and if you ever go to a Mets/Phils game in that cartoon ballpark, there are almost as many Mets fans as Phillies fans.

To back myself up I checked attendance, and the Mets outdrew the Phillies last year, and are 4th in attendance this year.

Skerik's reply was a response to Knight's "I guess that place is never full even when you guys are riding high" comment.

Since the Mets are only filling their stadium to 70% capacity, apparently their fans don't fill Shea Stadium when their team is riding high either.

Hey what happened to the New Yorkers never work comment? And who cares about percentage capacity. If Shea was the size of Fenway, the Mets could draw less fans but a higher percentage capacity. I'm guessing that they would rather have a higher average.

The jobless comment was a joke, since there was such a large number in attendance today. However, I remember how sensitive you are in the NFL forum, so I deleted it.

I don't think you get what we're trying to say. Knight made a comment about not filling Citizen's Bank Ballpark up, which nobody denied. However, we pointed out that the Mets are playing better ball, but still aren't managing to fill up Shea stadium.

In fact, I think both teams are only at 70% capacity this year. The total number is misleading, especially if you consider the surrounding population.

I don't think I have a point, I just like defending my baseball team. I don't really get what he was trying to say though. The Mets are 4th in attendance...that's damn impressive.

Nobody is denying that it is impressive. At the end of the day, all that matters is the total number of butts in the seats.

This isn't exactly rocket science. Not many teams in baseball are selling out stadiums in May, especially those where the weather is still relatively cold. Someone pointed out that the Phillies are "riding high" while CBP is still relatively empty. While not even refuting that point, all I pointed out was that the Mets are riding higher than we are, yet only selling out barely half of Shea.
