Re: 2008 Chicago Cubs
This is exactly the type of cold streak that could screw the Cubs in the playoffs. When they're hot, they look good. But when they're cold, they look clueless. How many runners have we left on base in the last 5 games? How many double plays have we grounded into with the bases loaded? Cubs fans are always drinking the kool aid when things are good. I was talking about Lee months ago. At a glance, his numbers don't look bad. But watching him ground into double play after double play during the last few months has made me cynical. Right now, it's not just Lee; the entire offense is struggling. But it is through these times that you expect your 3-4-5 hitter to come through in the clutch. Lee, Ramirez, and Edmonds have been very bad in these situations. I hope we can ride a hot streak in the playoffs, because we won't win many close games if this is the meat of our lineup.Comment

Re: 2008 Chicago Cubs
If by drinking kool aid you mean giving a team thats 30 games over the benefit of the doubt sometimes. Then yes most of us are drinking the kool aid. This is baseball, you can't live and die with every pitch of the year like you can in Football. You just got to take ups with the downs so to speak. This is the most complete baseball team the Cubs have had since I've been a fan this ill fated franchise. I think will be OK."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Re: 2008 Chicago Cubs
Me, too. 3 runs on 11 hits...that can be hard to do.
Marshall needs to learn to throw fewer strikes when ahead in the count, though he did work out of some jams. Defensively, he is a liability. I sure hope Zambrano is alright. Lieber was at the park, he will likely be added to the expanded roster along with Hoffpauir (please, no more Ward) and Angel Guzman (please, no more Cotts).
I don't think the Cubs hit but one flyball to LF the whole game, even though they were hitting Moyer pretty hard, but mostly foul. They didn't take BP before the game, and it showed.
Lee and ARam both looked like dooshes all day at the plate. Lee popped out twice, once in the 9th...somebody needs to fix his swing so he will hit more liners, he looks like crap. That back shoulder drop his killing him, and is the reason he hits so many pop-ups, weak grounders, and high fly outs...He is not keeping the bat on the same plane as the ball thru the zone, and it shows...I haven't seen him hit a line drive in a while, though I will be watching today on WGN.
Though I was 380ish feet away, the ump didn't seem to be consistent with his zone.
Cubs played excellent defense, save for Marshall. Cedeno, Fukudome, Lee all made some nice plays. Soriano is weird...took his glove off after every pitch, never seen that before.
I knew we were in for a long day when I looked up at the
scoreboard and the Cubs pennant was wrapped around the pole...
The bleachers were awesome...though I am sunburned....hot as hell, wind blowing, but not at us! Can't wait to go back. Saw Fontnot as he arrived...when not in uni, he looks like a stoner.
I am a little upset too at the play lately. I guess this was bound to happen, just didn't expect it at home. D Lee has been horrid. I think he is under contract for one more year, but I would upgrade in a second. It won't happen as no one will take him and his salary, just saying. He needs to wake up. His AB's with RISP have just made me want to
With a 40 man roster, Howry should never see the field again unless they are down by 4 or more runs. Bring anyone up from Iowa, just don't bring him in. If he makes the playoff roster (they will make it), I will lose some respect for Lou.
Also found the organizations behavior regarding the pitching injuries to be odd and bordering lying again. If Z had a family arrangement, why the hell didn't they say anything yesterday when every local media member was freaking out about it? Instead they acted as if he skipped the MRI and was no where to be found.
The Harden stuff also odd. Just come out and say he has soreness. Yes the plan was to give him a rest, fine. After all of the Wood and Prior lying, and being exposed as lying fools, don't start with that BS again.
EDIT: Glad the MRI result was favorable.Comment

The Brewers still keep loosing also so I'm not worried yet. Plus I sense a 9 game winning streak starting tonight“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Things are coming together tonite 3hr for Soriano 1 for DeRosa 1 for Marquis. This is going to be a start to a long win streak.“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Re: 2008 Chicago Cubs
I see a repeat of last season's hot streak that Soriano had about this time last year.
Much needed win tonight to say the least."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Re: 2008 Chicago Cubs
well, 2 of the past 5 days have been off days, and I was out of town this past weekend...
I would say traffic is pretty normal...even when the Cubs are doing well, there are weeks where people just aren't around to post...
Yes, I am a bit apprehensive, but we didn't get the best record in the NL by playing like this...this team can get it done, let's see if they pull it out...Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment
