Hey, at least with those players we're not clogging up the basepaths.
You honestly dont think the Reds are going to fire Dusty 2 months into a 3 year 12 millions dollar contract do you??
You need to get use to Dusty because he is going to be here for a while. Besides is it really Dusty's fault that he only has 2 legit starters and the offense has sucked so far???

Also when do they start sitting Dunn??
His bat just looks slow this year, he cant catch up to anybody's fastball. Guys are just blowing pitches by him. He is down to .194 now.

      No I don't. But I can dream.

I would say yes. I've never like the way Dusty builds a lineup and I find myself questioning many lineups he's put out so far this season. Of course Dunn struggled through the first three weeks, why would anybody throw to him with EE hitting behind him? First game against the Giants, we had Patterson leading off and Hairston hitting second with Keppinger hitting seventh. Is that some kind of sick joke? Plus, Patterson is showing why he's a .300 OBP guy. Remember when he went through that slump a week ago and was like 0-20? A reporter pointed that out to Dusty and Dusty's reaction was something like "gosh, I didn't notice that. I guess when you swinging a lot of trying to run out grounders it looks like you hit more than you are." I don't ever want a manager that's so biased towards a player that he doesn't notice he's in a slump until a reporter points it out.

Now, I know the lineups I would put out there would be considered "off the wall" or "bat-**** crazy" but it's not that difficult. LHP kills us. You know who's killing leftys this year? Joey Votto, and where is he hitting? Seventh.

It is just frustrating when the one thing we did well, score runs, we suddenly can't do at all and I can't think it's just 100% coincidence. Even last night against the Giants, yeah we scored 10 runs but a lot of those were as a result of bad defensive plays made by the Giants.

        Hatteberg trade? (update)

Peter Gammons floated the idea of the New York Mets trying to obtain Scott Hatteberg to spell/platoon with Carlos Delgado.

Hatteberg isn't demanding a trade. But he'd welcome one.

"First and foremost, I'd like to be here and help the team win," he said. "I play baseball to play."

I talked to Walt Jocketty after the game. He's heard from no teams about Hatteberg. Would Jocketty considered moving Hatteberg if a team made an offer?

"He's been an important part of the team," Jocketty said. "I'll all try to do anything to make the team better."

Hatteberg is in strictly a backup/pinch-hitting role with the emergence of Joey Votto. Hatteberg's 0-for-7 as a pinch-hitter and hitting .161 overall.

"It's difficult," he said. "I've never been a very good pinch-hitter. I'm trying to figure it out. I'm trying."

The only pitch a pinch-hitter gets to hit is often times the first one. Hatteberg rarely swings at first pitches.

"That flies in the face of the way I hit," he said. "This is my 13th year in the major leagues. I have a theory behind how I like to hit. I like to see a lot of pitches. Pinch-hitting isn't really conducive to that. I change my approach a little bit."
I know I'd welcome the trade and just make Votto the full time starter and spell him with Keppinger

We won't really get much at all for Hatteberg if we trade him. Maybe a decent reliever (no different from what we have or could bring up). I was thinking about possibly getting a similar type 1B for him but a righty but Votto has been hitting lefties better than righties so far. I say keep the vet Hatteberg to spot in at 1B, possible DH in interleague, pinch hit, and veteran leadership. Him saying he'd love to stay and help the team win shows hes a team player.

The Reds called up left-hander Bill Bray and optioned right-hander Todd Coffey to Triple-A Louisville.

            Here's the release:

Today the Reds recalled from Class AAA Louisville LHP Bill Bray (#45) and optioned to Louisville RHP Todd Coffey.

In 8 apps for the Bats Bray went 0-0, 1.04 with 1 save (8.2ip, 4h, 1er, 3bb, 14k, 1hr, .133oba)...he began spring training with a sore left shoulder and didn't appear in an exhibition game until 3/12...finished the spring with a 3.68era in 6 apps (7.1ip, 5h, 3er, 2bb, 6k) before he was optioned to the minors the day before camp broke.

Coffey posted a 6.46era in 14 relief apps for the Reds.
Went to the game Saturday against the Giants and watched as Coffey almost gave the game away

I'm glad Bray's finally up. question is who goes down when Weathers comes back?

IMO Cueto needs to be sent down and work on a few things. Hopefully his confidence does not waiver if he is sent down.

Yeah he's been struggling no doubt. It doesn't help too that the last few times he's pitched his fielding has been atrocious.

Word is, they flew Mario Soto in just to work w/ Cueto...apparently Soto has Cueto working on a few new pitches...a cutter, & a forkball. Cueto's gotta get back to form 1st...THEN you can add to his arsenal.

ohh yea...the Reds absolutely SUCK...in HD

Well the Reds have finally sucked the last bit of optimism and hope and excitement I had for the season. I am disgusted with this team. It is the same thing every year except usually the Reds are hot until June then they fall off. This year they suck from day one and have no light at the end of the tunnel.

Nice mix up of the lineup last night, but still the same results. I just don't understand it. This team should not be this bad. Shouldn't even be close to this bad. Harang should have 5 wins with that era where it is, but he only has 1. Cueto needs fixing or they run the chance of killing this kid's confidence. I wish they would get rid of Dick Pole. He obviously is not the same pitching coach that made Greg Maddux sing his praises. Maybe if Mario Soto can straighten Cueto out they will give him a shot at pitching coach.

Uggh...I just can't stand this team right now. Knight/Jim get the rosters done that I have been waiting for to start my franchise in MLB The Show and now I don't really have much interest in it because of these crappy Reds. It almost feels like we are now the Indians in the movie Major League...lol.
