I just looked at the schedule. We don't play the Braves until mid-May. That is just weird.

even more wierd is the fact the PAdres fly in for the opening homestand for the Mets...

I know the divisions were aligned differently and there were less teams, but some of us remember when AT BEST, ALL National League West teams wouldn't even get to the east coast till June, late June at the earliest.

Derek Lowe is throwing 6 shutout innings against the Phils... If Ollie gets off to a bad start, and Lowe keeps pitching like this, Omar is gonna have some 'splainin to do.

Randolph is gone so like you said, there's nothing to complain for him yet.

Take this for what it's worth, but I grew up watching the Norfolk Tides...I've seen a lot of Mets guys from Dykstra to Jefferies to Butch Huskey to Alex Ochoa to Benny Agbayani.

If that didn't make me a Mets fan nothing ever will...Although, it seemed to work w/ my little brother (traitor) - who is also a Giants fan...ugh.

Pops and I are Philly Phans tride and true.

Yup. The Tides got'em. He's even been to Shea, whereas I've only been to NYC once with a bunch of buddies on a failed music endeavor. Closest I got to a stadium in NY was riding by Yankee stadium on the rail.

Yup...my little bro is a Mets, Giants, and Knicks fan.

Here's a funny story if you're interested....

It was the last season @ the Vet. My pops and I are sitting at our seats on the 1B side. My brother had gone to the bathroom, and was taking awhile. As soon as my Dad say's "Where's Matt" we see him emerge from the tunnel on his way back to the seats.

We watch what would then transpire...

A lovely Phillies Phan yells out to my brother (who was 19 or so at the time, and wearing a green Mets cap) "Mets Suck".

My brother, w/o realizing there was tiny 5'1" female cop right there yells out "Suck my ----". We then see this cop stop him, take him by the arm and escort him away. My dad and I are looking at each other like...huh?

My dad tries calling him on the cellphone...no answer...so I go see what's going on.

I catch up to them and the cop is taking him to the Magistrate for "unruly" behavior - since there were kids around etc. I wait outside w/ him, and she comes out and says he's been ejected from the game.

It was in like the 7th or 8th inning, but a good ballgame nonetheless vs Atlanta, which ended up going 10 innings.

I walk w/ Matt and the cop, to the gate that he has to go out, and tell him to wait for us after the game.

He told the guy at the gate what happened, and he laughed and just let him back in at the end of the 9th inning.

My brother could've very well been the last person thrown out of Veteran's Stadium since that was the 2nd to last game of the yr.

Pretty cool little story, that we often reminisce about.
