Mets need to sign this guy JBH3 as a scout.

He really seems sincerely concerned about who the pick up.

He and Skerik are concerned alright.
They see their ONE GAME lead getting cut into a little.:wink:
Whey we signed K-Rod...the question from them was..."Yeah...but who's going to get the ball in the eighth to get it to K-Rod?"
When we signed Putz....the question from him is..."Yeah....but who's going to get the ball to Putz and then K-Rod?" and " Who's your OF going to be now?"(news flash....while I like Endy.....he was never part of our regular OF....that was the knock on him, he couldn't do it regularly).
Gotta love it...the guy is a fan of the "World Champions" and he's more concerned about the Mets.

Thats our competition...and the Phillies are just 'in talks' right now, and nothing has happened...therefore there isn't anything to talk about.

If we get Derek Lowe and Mark DeRosa then I could careless about the rest of the transactions the Mets make this offseason.

BUT...

As it stand the Mets are building a pretty good team for 2009, and have seemed to have turned around their bullpen in two days of moves.

So...sure I'm geniunely concerned about what our biggest division rival is doing. Why wouldn't I be?

I know this probably wouldn't be the general consensus around here... but I would love to see Manny as a Met. Bring all his ridiculous antics and park it in left field... as he knocks the cover off the ball all season long.

Hehe.. they just had Cole Hammels on the FAN with Evan and Joe..

Actually, Cole seems to be a decent guy, and he made it an interesting interview..

Mets also picked up 2 guys in the Rule 5 draft -- P Darren O'Day from the Angels, and the immortal P Rocky Cherry..

Don't forget guys, they added another decent arm in the pen with Green..

I love the moves the Mets have made so far. They need to find a 4th/5th starter, a bat for LF and maybe a 2nd baseman. Evans/Murphey might battle it out for the LF job but I would love for the Mets to offer a big money 3/4 year deal for Manny. Let him come home and knock the cover off the ball in the new ballpark.

I understand it's your intent to be an annoying whatever, but don't start double posting your garbage in multiple threads because you are in need of attention.

You've made yourself look silly in the K-Rod trade thread and now you're just making yourself look worse.

Back on topic:

Did anyone hear the interview with Hammels? The media is blowing this up like no tomorrow. How else would he have answered the question, when the two guys (both Met fans btw) kinda "pushed" him to answer it that way?

I am a Met fan, and until they finish strong at the end of September,
I think they fear too much about failing that they do.. which would make them exactly what Cole said they are..

I don't see the problem with the comment either, especially since we've backed up our talk on the field the last two seasons. If guys like Hamels and Rollins were spouting off and not backing it up with their play, I'd be pretty annoyed with them. But as it is, comments like this just fuel the rivalry and really, you can say whatever the hell you want when you're world f'ing champions.

The hosts asked him if the Mets are choke artists, they basically admitted the Mets are choke artists, the Mets are choke artists, and Hamels just agreed with the sentiment. Big deal.

Listen to the whole interview -- you could tell something like that was going to come up right off the bat. Evan was making his "ugh" comments when they talked about the release of the WS DVD set.. Cole also made the comment that he has no issues with K-Rod's "mound theatrics" because (and I agree with him on this part) that the only time one should celebrate is a walk off HR or a win -- that was brought up about the whole Reyes/Victorino flap in the postseason.

I actually also thought that Cole seemed a little hesitant to even say that at first, but the way the question was asked, how else was he to answer it?

I'm glad the Mets addressed their needs in the pen, and got rid of someone who didn't seem to want to be here..
