Excellent sweep. I really missed this intense atmosphere. I have to mention that Zito is killing it right now. He's is pitching with anger.

Again, the two people we traded for were absent from this series and we won. I know Garko is struggling and Ishi is playing well, but why even make the trade if he is going to be a reserve. Richie can do what he is doing, and he has a better glove.

This is going to be a tough road trip, and we need to come up big. The good thing is we start Sanchez, Lincecum and Zito. I just hope our bats stay hot.

ESPN is reporting the Giants are close to closing the Brad Penny deal. That would be a nice pickup. Penny being the 5th starter and Randy Johnson would be coming out of the bullpen. In the Chronicle today, Johnson said he knows he wont start again this year, because his shoulder cant handle it. But he wants to come back quickly so he can help in the pen. Damn, what a nice person to turn to in a pinch.

I think Penny wouo very well in the 5th spot. No pressure and you are facing the other teams weaker pitcher.

well he certainly can't do any worse than the other 5th starters we've had recently, but i'm not expecting much out of him.

I expect him to go 3 - 0 at home, which is good enough for me.

i missed the game tonite (thank goodness, lol), really to bad that sanchez start was wasted. 6 game road trip, i was hoping for 4-2 but 3-3 would look good now.

Well no Sandoval = no runs. He did not look good either when he pinched hit. This road trip might be harder than we even expected with him hurt. This is when it would be nice to have Freddy Sanchez in the lineup.

Great pitching by Sanchez though. Wow, he shut down a potent lineup. Not to mention Cole Hamels was on point tonight.

When the best 3 bats are out of the lineup in an already bad hitting lineup.. it's never good. Sanchez has been good just as Zito has. No run support for either of them though. These guys need to get healthy or there really is no chance.

Soreness in his calf. I know you missed the game, but he drew a walk and it looked like he was having a tough time getting to first.

Molina might be back on Thursday at the earliest, as the team said he can decide when he feels good.

Sanchez just started hitting off a Tee. But his shoulder is still sore.

If the Giants bats don't start to heat up soon, it'll be a loooong road trip. Well Penny's got the start today so we'll get to see how well he does.

Looks like there's a new catcher on board. =D

Just heard the news myself. Man we must be desperate. Welcome to The Show Posey.

In semi-related, fictional news...in MLB '09 The Show, my RTTS character caught up with the real life schedule (AA still). The headlines read:

Giants lose final game of the series to Phillies and fall back in wild card race. Giants now trial Colorado by 2 in the Wild Card race and the Dodgers by 5 games in the West.

I thought that was cool, and little scary.
