The Redlegs have played like garbage in that ballpark ever since it opened. They need to get the hell out of there. I thought Thursday night was bad (never should have gone to extra innings - Stubbs poor execution on squeeze for DP & left Corky stranded at 3B with 1 out) but this was 100 times worse. What sucks in the 9th, it wasn't like Leake was getting teed off on until Dobbs hit that HR. Someone hit a ball into short left near the foul-line for a hit and someone else hit a broken-bat grounder just past Cairo's glove. Cheap hits. Coco drives me nuts though. Losing two straight in extra innings to the defending NL champs by walk-off HR's really sucks. I just hope it doesn't mess this team up mentally. Just get a split in this series, clear your heads over the all-star break, and move on.

The reds have the scariest closer in baseball. And Travis WOod is pitching a beauty.

          Yeah, Coco always scares me.

Hopefully after the All-Star break, they'll play consistently, and consistently well!

I know usually after the break is when it all falls apart for them, but I have a good feeling about this year.

Pitiful against the Phillies though. That was terrible.

Usually way before the break it falls apart.
This is the first time since '99 they have been in first at the break.
How come Votto and Phillips were not at the HR Derby last night?
I know Rolen was there as they showed him with his kids numorous times.
Is it because they dont have kids??

I lost some respect for Votto if this true.

It is a freaking allstar game and believe it of not Mr. Votto you could be a Cubs one day. Money talks sir. Also, I think you have to realize you are a part of the same faimly as a professional ball players. This is bush league to me. You guys are having a good season I am very happy for you guys that stuck with this team for so long. They are finally playing some good ball and it is fun to watch the Reds being a threat again. I miss the Giants playing the Reds. That was a fun rival to watch. Paul O and Chris S owned us!

Meh. I don't doubt he said it. Doesn't bother me much. Carson Palmer has mentioned more than once how much he hates the Steelers. It's a Cincinnati thing I guess. I'm not sure what the motivation was for him to say it. He could have had a bad experience against the Cubs or with Cubs fans while in Chicago, then grew to hate them because of it. Who the heck knows? If I were him, I'd have checked that kind of stuff at the door though. You are on the same team in that situation and as far as I know, Marlon Byrd isn't a bad dude. Hell, if the Reds are somehow fortunate enough to make it to the post-season and a World Series, Marlon Byrd helped them get home-field advantage. Now, if it were Zambrano he had in mind, then I can understand the hatred.

In all seriousness, based on some recent quotes by Joey in the local newspapers and such, I don't think he's fully mentally recovered with whatever **** he was dealing with last season. The dude has some self-worth issues. I've noticed it in more than one quote lately. He's having a great season but if he just started doing some crazy stuff away from the ballpark, I don't know if I'd be that surprised. I love watching him play and think he's a great guy. Hopefully none of what I said comes to fruition.

EDIT: Let me correct a little of what I said. The more I've thought about what Votto said, the more it doesn't bother me. In fact, I kind of like it. He didn't say he hated Marlon Byrd. He said he hated the Cubs. Back in the 70's, there were bitter rivalries in baseball (like Reds-Dodgers) where players from both teams didn't exactly hang out afterwards and have dinner. The Reds and Cubs are rivals in the same division. Why he picked them over the Cards or something, I don't know. Maybe what I said above has something to do with it. Although, I can't even hate St. Louis. Anyway, how would fans react if Kevin Youkilis said he hated the Yankees? Would anyone really care? Why do they care about Votto saying he hates the Cubs?

Yes, I purchased tickets to Friday's game to watch the Rocks take on the Reds along with the bonus MC Hammer concert. Can't touch this!

This is the funniest part. If the Cubs signed him to a crazy *** contract you think he would feel the same way. He is a hypocrite. Just say want the fans want to hear. I promise you when he is FA and the Cubs give him about a couple billion he would hate the Reds. And that is the truth about how the real world works. I still like the guy and I love when my players say they hate the Dodgers, but it is what it is. I am sorry for high jacking this thread with that. So I will not talk about it again and go Reds!

The Reds win 3-2 Friday night AND I bumped fists with MC Hammer after he "sang" Take Me Out to the Ballgame during the 7th inning. Really, could life get any sweeter?

Apparently a devilish Chicago sportswriter, whose tweet the author in the above link reacted to, decided to leave out the fact that Votto was joking.

The really said thing is that there are those out there (not you Scottdau) that will still hold this against Joey even though it isn't true. That's all it takes these days. One accusation and then people get it in their minds as truth even though it was proven not to be and they'll always hold it against him.
