    Re: 2010 Cincinnati Reds

I think someone has to "break" the opening day lineup before the manager fixes it in some cases.

I don't understand why, but oh well.

Hey Look at that! We won a game.

Least we won't go 0-162 now.

Again I have no idea why Stubbs is not playing every damn day in CF, the dude tore it up in ST and last year when he was called up. He let the Reds in HRS this spring.

Nice to see Dickerson went 1-5 with a big error!!!
I dont know why but I just cant stand him playing CF over Stubbs (who went 2-2 by the way.)
Stubbs is a better base runner, base stealer and better defensive CFer. I dont know what Stubbs has to do to prove to Dusty is should be the EVERYDAY CFer.
Every chance that Dickerson has had to play the last two years one of two things have happened.
          1. He plays decent for about a month and they gets hurnt, he has been on the DL 3 times already.
          2. He just doesnt hit enough to stay in the line up.
I know he had a great spring but its not ST anymore.
I agree with you and Hal.

Leake was phenomonal today. Go Reds. 3-3 homestand. Now... The Road.

Good to see that Aroldis Chapman went 4 2/3 today, 5 H, 9K's, 1ER. Only one of the hits that he gave up got out of the infield.

Let's head to Florida Reds fans.

                  Re: 2010 Cincinnati Reds

Leake did a great job. I don't like the 7 walks but I'm guessing from what Marty said on the radio that is probably an exception rather than the norm.

Yeah it sounds like Chapman got into some trouble (40+ pitches in first two innings) early on but got out of it. He hit the gun at 99 and 101 in the 1st inning apparently. I happened to be listening to Marty calling the game when he got an e-mail from someone with the Reds who was watching Chapman's start versus Toledo.

Yep, let's take at least 3 from the Fish!

I am a batboy for the Mud Hens and was working the Hens dugout for todays game and all the coaches kept saying he has no breaking pitches and needs to work on his mechanics. I think he will have success in the majors but he needs something more then a 100 mph fastball to be a superstar.

Oh I don't doubt that. He's still a kid and has a good pitching coach at AAA as well as with the Reds. He'll get a different form of teaching in America with that kind of stuff than he did in Cuba.

Does anyone else ever listen to this clown Doc Rodgers on 700?
How he had a job in baseball I will never know.
He said the other night that Dickerson is 10x's the player Stubbs is.
He thinks that Dickerson is a superstar in the making, someone needs to tell him Dickerson is 27 and that he gets hurnt alll the time.
He also said the Chapman signing was quote "stupid". He says they should have took the money given to Chapman and signed two veteran pitchers that would have helped them this year. He also said Leake is nothing and will never be nothing then an average pitcher.
Finally he says the Gomes signing was stupid and that Gomes should never play. He says either Dickerson/Stubbs or some other younger prospect should be playing LF since they are not going to win this year.

See his theory's never make since play a young LF because the Reds are a year or two away. But throw a bunch of money at an average veteran pitcher to win now??? If you want to go young because they are not ready to win why wouldnt you sign Chapman who could be great in 2 years??

Yeah, dude is just straight up ridiculous. I can't stand listening to him. So I don't.

Speaking of Dickerson, I won't even play him in videogames... much less would he see much time on the field IRL. I just don't see a lot out of him. I think that Gomes has the chance to be a special player. We have a really strong young core group of players. Just give it some time to mesh.

I think I'm the most optimistic this year, that I've been in quite some time for the Redlegs.

I totally agree, I am only playing Dickerson to rest Gomes and Stubbs and I would even rather let Nix do that. I am also with you on Doc I just turned the radio off once he came on last night. First thing he brought up was Stubbs striking out twice. He really hates Stubbs for some reason. When I was listening to him the other night a guy called who liked Stubbs over Dickerson and he wouldnt let him talk, he just kept saying your wrong. No facts to back himself up just kept saying your wrong and then cut him off.

Sounds like an idiot that's starving for attention. Glad you guys turn him off. Maybe if others followed suite he'll be out of a job soon.

Yeah I usually don't listen to Doc Rodgers.

Here's his file if you were wondering about his background though:

Playing career: Minor-league pitcher in Giants and Reds organizations from 1985 to 1990.

Coaching: Reds minor-league pitching coach in 1991 and 1992.

Front office: Reds assistant for baseball operations from 1993 to 1995. Tigers director of baseball administration in 1996. Reds assistant GM from 1997 to 2002.
He also spent some time from 2003-???? as the Orioles Minor League Farm System Director.
