I'm high on Wladimir Balentien as a potential LF or 4th outfielder. Looking forward to see how Bill Bray bounces back from injury. Interested to see if Carlos Fisher can make the opening day roster.

Juan Francisco and Yonder Alonso are coming soon, maybe not this year, but soon. I'm super interested in Chris Heisey. Wondering if he could start the season at LF with a strong spring trainng. Really want to see who takes the 5th starter spot too.

I know I'm probably seen as too optimistic, but I see a wildcard team here if we can get some pitching from the #4 and #5 starters.

    Starting 5

    RHP Aaron Harang
    RHP Bronson Arroyo
    RHP Johnny Cueto
RHP Homer Bailey/RHP Micah Owings (?)
LHP Matt Maloney/RHP Justin Lehr/LHP Aroldis Chapman/RHP Mike Lincoln (?)
Balentien will not make our team this year, he is out of options and will be released at some point. He would have to really preform well in spring training to have any shot at making the team. Like I said it doesnt look good for him because he is out of options.

I agree with your rotation except Homer is now our #3 guy, he pitched great last year after the all star break. Also Arroyo as sad as it sounds it really our #1 starter, Harang will start opening day but he is in no way our #1 starter.
    I would go
    1. Arroyo
    2. Harrang
    3. Bailey
    4. Cueto
    5. No way to tell at this point.
I still wouldnt be surprised if Arroyo is traded early in the season, one of the contenders will have and injury or two and then be willing to trade for him.

Good catch Jake. That's the same game the MLB network is airing. I got the date wrong.

Jonny Gomes is officially back in the fold. Who do you think will make the OD roster as OF'ers? I think they'll have to choose between Nix and Dickerson. Stubbs, Bruce, Gomes, Nix/Dickerson, and Balentein (I like the kid's potential. They just need to work with him.) Heisey and Francisco start out at AAA.

Balentein will be cut as he is out of options there is just no room for a RH bat that cant hit lefties.
Were looking at a platoon in LF with Gomes/Dickerson, Stubbs in CF everday and Bruce in RF everyday. Nix will give the occational day off to Bruce and Stubbs and PH. When they want to give Stubbs a day off Dickerson will play CF. I was reading an article on Bruce yesterday and it is hard to believe he is just 22. He is still younger then all the big prospects the Reds have in the minors. He is younger than Heisey, Frasor, and Francisco. I guess I thought he was older then he is for some reason.

I never thought about that. Since he's been up here for a while, one might naturally think he's older than some minor league prospects. Totally understandable because I thought the same thing! lol

Same here lol. Can't believe he is only 22. Thought he was around 25.

How do you guys think he will do this year? He struggled last year but I see him having a good year. We will need his batting.

If he has an injury free year, I'm looking for him to continue his climb upward. He could have a monster year even, but we'll see.

I dont know what it is about him but I cant stand him pitching for the Reds.
I just read he is starting the 1st ST game on Friday and Dusty says he is in the running for the 5th starter spot.
They need to just go ahead and name Chapman the 5th starter and get it over with.
