Must not have been too great at his job or he wouldnt be doing radio now.
Enough of him though, 5-3 winners of 5 of 6, 2 straight extra inning wins!

Wow... what a play/throw by Rolen to get the out at home, saving a run for Homer. Could not have been any better of a throw.

Homer looking pretty shaky starting. Needs to settle down.

Yes he does. His pitch count has gotten way too high way too early in his two starts. They need him to go at least 7 innings, I think, because the bullpen has pitched too much lately. 82 pitches through 4 innings is pretty lousy.

"Pretty" lousy is an understatement of epic proportions. It's awful. Let's see if we can come back from this. Our bats have been directed right at the fielders tonight.

Well I was trying to be kind. Yes, Homer sucked tonight.

Holy crap...Paul Janish just hit a HR! That is a rare sight!

Indeed... and he SHOULD have had a triple earlier. There is no way that the gapper he hit in the 4th I believe should have just been a double.

So when do the rumblings start of bringing up Champman for Bailey??
5-4 now, would be really nice to win tonight and take 3 of 4 from the Fish.
Then head to Pittsburgh and take 2 of 3 from the horrible Pirates!

I'm a full believer that Homer will be a stud eventually. If you read his comments after games, especially when he didn't pitch well, he knows exactly what he did wrong, where, why, etc. It's all a matter of execution. He has the ability. But, yeah, some are going to want Aroldis up here if Homer keeps pitching like this. I think it's interesting what the Mud Hens batboy said on the previous page. Chapman might need to work on some stuff of his own before coming north.

How he had a job in baseball I will never know.
He said the other night that Dickerson is 10x's the player Stubbs is.
He thinks that Dickerson is a superstar in the making, someone needs to tell him Dickerson is 27 and that he gets hurnt alll the time.
He also said the Chapman signing was quote "stupid". He says they should have took the money given to Chapman and signed two veteran pitchers that would have helped them this year. He also said Leake is nothing and will never be nothing then an average pitcher.
Finally he says the Gomes signing was stupid and that Gomes should never play. He says either Dickerson/Stubbs or some other younger prospect should be playing LF since they are not going to win this year.

See his theory's never make since play a young LF because the Reds are a year or two away. But throw a bunch of money at an average veteran pitcher to win now??? If you want to go young because they are not ready to win why wouldnt you sign Chapman who could be great in 2 years??
I wonder if that's the dude I heard on the radio a few weeks ago. He said something about how the reds should've signed Miggy Tejada, becuase he would've given the reds 30 HR's. I had a good laugh out of that. Again, I'm not sure if it was that dude, but it sure sounds like it could've been him.

Anyways, can't wait to see Mike Leake pitch again tonight.

I have to work tonight, so unless its raining and I don't have any calls to go on, I won't get to watch Leake. Hopefully he has a good outing, and we can get back on track.

Well, the offense sucked against Duke tonight. They did score two runs late and hardly swung the bat since they were off of walks. The run off Dotel in the 9th was good. Still, rather disappointed Masset couldn't get out of the 9th. It was encouraging to see him strike the 1st two guys out, but them McCutchen got a hit, stole second, and then Milledge hit one up the middle to drive him in. It was like, "What the hell just happened?" I thought Leake did okay. Still way too many walks (his WHIP is horrid right now because of that). I'd really like them to win this series prior to the Dodgers coming to town next week.

I still can't believe Cordero blew the save Saturday. So far it looks like not enough offense and not enough gains in pitching that a lot of us probably feared preseason. There have been some positives in the offense, though. The Reds could probably use Stubbs striking out less from the leadoff spot, and it'd be nice to see just a little bit more control out of the pitching in general. Hopefully Bruce's stats will catch up to his level of play before too long; I don't think he's played as poorly as his stat sheet so far.

What a game. Shame we couldn't hold on to the lead for Homer once he settled down.

Oh how times have changed. I remember back when the Reds were in the NL West, whenever the Dodgers rolled into town, they would have really big crowds. Reds fans hated the Dodgers back in the 70's. Yes, school is still going on right now, but that attendance tonight looked pathetic. I drove past GABP on my way home from class at Xavier and the place looked empty.

As for the game, glad they won. Little worried that Masset got lit up though. Homer needs to get past 6 innings.
