    Re: 2010 Cincinnati Reds

Yeah this trip has been a killer in the past. I'll be happy if they get 5 wins out of the 9 games and at worst 2 games back when they return home. I know, "Where's the optimism?" I'm just being realistic. I've watched this team for too many years and know that the trip out west to play LA, SF, and/or SD, can be rough. Keep the expectations a little low so they can be exceeded.

Im with you, but i think they should go 6-3. Arizona sucks, they should sweep them, and LA isnt playing so good. That being said the reds normally play horribly on the road so thats what im hoping for.
On another note it is the first time i have been able to say i left school with them in first place and going back with them in first place!

        Re: 2010 Cincinnati Reds

They really need to go 6-3, 5-4 at worst.
I have said it 100 times and you guys keep doubting me, this aint your old Reds team.
You are right they played horribly in the PAST on west coast trips, this aint the PAST.
Do you realize last year the Reds were 17.5 games back on this date?

I'm with jake. This ain't the same Reds team of the past. Which is why we're in 1st right now! I have a good feeling about the road trip.

Leake sent to the 'pen to help keep his innings down. Looks like they only want him to pitch 35 more innings this season. Homer and Wood are in the rotation to stay, I suppose.

                Re: 2010 Cincinnati Reds

Well, I was at the brawl game last week and I really thought it would fire the Reds up, but it had the opposite effect. I love the way the Reds bounced back after that series with a sweep of the fish and they should win at least 2 in AZ. I think the big series' are against the Dodgers and Giants. Obviously the Giants are pretty good, but I think the Reds may have lost double digit games in a row at Dodger Stadium? Someone may want to verify that, but I'm almost sure that is what I heard on the radio last night.

I agree this is not a typical Reds team, so a west coast swing is not the end of the world. The Reds really could've let the Cards sweep get them down, but they came out and played and now have a 2 game lead. The Reds are obviously gonna have to solve the Cards at some point, but I won't worry about that right now. It's fun to be interested in baseball in August again. IT's been a while.

It is. And the scary thing is that they are only getting better. Granted Rolen, Rhodes etc are older, and might not have much left, but there talent is so good they can only get better.

                    Re: 2010 Cincinnati Reds

Great come from behind win last night, down 7-3 going into the 8th and pull out a 11-7 win!
I heard MLB is looking into not counting these wins for the Reds because the D-BACKS are not a very good team! lol
It cracks me up that Cards fans see their team crumbling and are now saying the Reds cant beat good teams as they lose to really bad teams.
I loved the whole Colin Cowterd rant on the Reds the other day. He said they were a fraud because they cant beat good teams. He said there schedule was a joke and that the Cards are the better team. He was proved wrong by Lance McCallister who pointed out the Reds to have an easy schedule (29th easiest in baseball) but the Cards schedule has been easy too (28th).
He also said they are good because their ballpark is a joke. What does that mean?? As Lance said doesnt the other team bat in the same park when they play the Reds??? lol
Besides as he pointed out Votto, Rolen, and many of the other Reds have better stats on the road. I also like what he said about the Phillies. They had the easiest ballpark to hit in the last two years, does that mean there two pennates and one World Series shouldnt count??? lol

Also it was reported yesterday the Reds have offered Dusty a multi-year deal, what do you guys think?? As you all know I am totally for it, how do you not after the turn around this year?

Yeah, that was an amazing game. Reds teams for the past 10-15 years would have just mailed it in after the 5 run 6th that we gave up... down 7-3, I was getting weary. But that was an amazing comeback win.

As for Dusty, I'm for it. Sometimes I'm wondering WTH is going on, but it normally pans out. If he finds a way to throw a different closer with more consistency, or can talk to Cordero to see what on earth is going on, then we will be a legit team who has a chance to make some noise.

                          Whats wrong with the closer?
You do know he has converted 16 of his last 17 saves right?
He is 32 for 38 this year which is a great %.
I know what you are getting at, he walks too many batters and scares the crap out of you alot of games. But the bottom line is he gets the job done which is what he is paid to do.
I really think alot of Reds fans are fed up with him and I have no idea why. His save % this year is almost exactly the same as for his career.
He is second in all of baseball since the break with only 1 blown save, only Heath Bell is better with no blown saves since the break.

It's amazing when the Cardinals took the one game lead he acted as if they won the World Series. Talking about the sleeping giant id awake and thanked the Reds for keeping first place warm for them

As if losing to bad teams is a good thing, good teams beat bad teams plain and simple.

Oh yeah, I'm sure Dusty has secured his job, whether the Reds make the playoffs this year or not. They've been doing really well. Hopefully they just stay consistent, and keep winning. I'd love to see them in the playoffs again! Granted, I'd be a little worried once they have to play teams like the Yankees, but let's get there first.

Yeah, that guy sounded so arrogant. "now the big boys will take the spot back". Well, they did, and they are three games ahead of the Cards.
