They can pick up his option for 2012, right? They definitely need to bring him back.

We need to bring back Dontrelle too. He deserves another year bigtime.

I'm not going to hate on Dusty that much. I don't think that a manager can have that big of an impact on a season. The Reds are ten games back right now. That's a monumental drop-off. Reds pitchers are on pace to contribute 6 WAR less (only 2 respectable starters in the rotation) than last year and the offense is on pace to contribute 4 less WAR (largely Scott Rolen). That's where the season went.

Funny that a year ago, being around .500 this deep into the season would've been called a success. After we proved we could hang, being 3 games under and 10 games back is such a disappointment.

Maybe the Reds were ahead of schedule last year... hope we can finish out this season on a high note though. It's been so disappointing pretty much since April.

Yeah that is funny. But with where the Reds are right now I don't think there's any chance they make the playoffs. I'd almost call in the Cardinals, as well. If they let the Brewers' lead on them open up to 5 or 6 then they're done, too.

It just shows how much the Reds have improved and how the expectations are higher. This team has come a long way in a few years.

This season has been fusturating. The Reds have been inconsitent. I think Milwaukee wins the Division and the Reds are on the outside looking in for a wild card spot. I just hope the Reds can finish strong and play good baseball the last month and a half of the season.

Sadly, they are closer to the Brewers in the division standings than they are to the Braves and a Wild Card spot. I think last year's success was a little sooner than folks planned but they had to try and win when they had the chance. This season, with no changes in the offseason to a very talented but young, and flawed, team, they were more exposed than they were in 2010. A few years ago I remember the talk being the Reds would contend in 2-3 years. I expect moves to be made in the offseason to improve this team so they can contend in 2012. Moves do need to be made. They don't have to blow up the team but there is a lot of young talent in this organization and I hope the Reds brass use the last month and a half to see what some of these guys can do because 2011 is a lost cause at this point.

Yeah I think the Reds only shot at winning the post-season is winning the division and unless Milwaukee implodes I don't see that happening. Even if Milwaukee gets cold, I don't see the Reds finishing ahead of the Cardinals.

I agree some moves should be made in the offseason, I expected moves to be made before the trade deadline but I'm not sure what the Reds could of done at that time.

I'm not sure what all the Reds can do. I guess finding some more starting pitching would be the biggest thing.

4 in a row at least. Lets see if that drained the offense now.

They'll lose tomorrow 3-2. The D-Train will pitch well yet again but he won't get any support. The Reds will find a way for Wade LeBlanc to stymie them.

That pessimistic prediction aside, they looked great tonight. Cairo and Hanigan 2 HR's each? Bruce, Votto, and Frazier also go yard? I like 13-1 victories.

It is sad that besides Cueto, Willis has been their best pitcher since he is called up. The really really don't want him to get a run. They score a few runs, bullpen blows it. He gives up like 2 runs over 7, they don't score

                              Tough game today..

Anyway, not sure if this has been talked about on the threads recently, but what are you guys' views on the potential Votto trade that would send Joey and possibly Corcina to the Jays for their all star outfielder Jose Bautista.

I was very displeased at first, until I looked at the numbers, and contract that the two players have. Odds are, the Reds won't be able to afford Joey in a couple of years, and Jose would be under control for the next 4 or 5 years.

                              Post your thoughts.

I dislike it. Personally I think it is bad. I know it would open up Alonso for first, but I don't care. Alonso has really been working at third and left. Put him in third, see how he does there. The Reds have Votto till 2014 I thought? Sappelt has looked solid, but he is way to aggressive for a leadoff hitter.
