Great win today. Arroyo pitched great for still being sick. Going to a game next week while I am on spring break, don't know which yet though.

Of all the championships won by my teams, in any sport, the 1990 World Series win by the Reds is the sweetest, and may always be so. No one thought we had a chance, but every Reds fan knew irrefutably that we were, at the very least, the equal of those A's.

Last year and now at the start of this year is the first time since then that I've felt like a Cincy squad has had the kind of confidence that that club had.

WHAT A WEEKEND! I think it was Chris Welsh saying on FSN Sunday what a statement it was for this team to come out against the club that was seen as having the best chance to top the Reds and, really, picked by many to win the division. What a statement it was!

I was able to get down for the first two games and was so happy to see all the support from the fans (105,170 fans attended this weekend). Plus the organization tossing it right back making the players available before the game to anyone in attendance on Saturday, then Reds Uncut, plus the entertainment, fire works, and give aways. Its a serious love affair between this city and the franchise right now.

I got to see Bob Castellini speak at a business luncheon on Wednesday and he highlighted greatly the need to get and keep fans; it was clear as day this weekend that its no joke to them. As he said, getting people to be Reds fans from "womb to tomb"

Well, in the current baseball world, fans and ticket sales are the only way they can compete. They don't have the luxury of a ridiculous tv deal or sheer size of fanbase like the Yankees do in New York. The Reds know they have to sell tickets to keep that money flowing and allow them to keep their star players. I still think some guys are going to have to really want to stay here though and pass up on a more lucrative deal with a team like the Yankees. Fans and ownership will be the key to making that happen. St. Louis has been successful with that method, although they do have a larger city. But Cincinnati can be successful too.

Good to see the pirates knock off the cards today, hopefully we can turn in a good game tonight and roll to 4-0. Let's go Leake!

I always love seeing the Cards lose. My wife and i were in Cinci for a couple of days and it was great everyone i met hates the Cards as much as I do.
I am hoping the Cards and Brewers continue there losing ways all season.

What players have signed for less to stay in St Louis?
Not saying your wrong I just dont know of any.
Carpenter and Holliday both signed huge deals they didnt stay for less.
And now it looks like Albert wants a very large contract to stay.

Do you hate the Cardinals just because they're in the same division?

I thought thay Holliday re-worked his deal slightly to help free up some money to keep other players. I could very well be remembering wrong, or it could have been him saying he would take less IF Albert gets resigned. Either way he is still making a TON so no real discount either way.

If you are talking to me, I hate them because all they are is a bunch of bi***** and whiners!
Yes part of the reason you hate any team is because they are your division rivals.

Yea, I've never hated teams just b/c they were in the same division. If they are like you guys describe, I'm sure I'll hate them soon enough.

I hate the Cards because they are the Reds toughest rival. The Cubs are also a rival but i don't absolutely hate them because they usually suck anyways. The Cards however over the years are always tough to beat because there good. I use to hate the Pirates when they were good, and for you young guys, yes they use to be a very good team, lol.

I hate the Brewers because there team is full of a bunch of little B*****s.

Looking good to start the season. Its still early but I much rather be 4-0 than 0-4. I think the Reds players are playing with a little chip on their shoulder since they are the reigning division champ and most everyone was picking against them this year
