There should be an opening on the 40 man after moving Russell/Bonifacio, so I don't think they'll need to DFA anyone. My guess as to who he replaces is Valaika or possibly Lake

Cubs 40-man stands at 39 players as of today, so the Cubs don't have to remove anyone. They were basically at 40, then acquired Doubront while spinning off Russell/Boni, hence the 39.

I think he's going with number 22. That's my guess.

I'm excited. It's been a long time since I could really say that about anything Cubs baseball related.

My bet is that Rusin or Parker will be sent down, maybe one of our outfielders. We've got an 8 man bullpen, so that would make sense.

Weird, exactly two years ago today is when Brett Jackson and Josh Vitters made their MLB debut.

Almost forgot that Vitters is only 24 (only, I know, lol) but, he's been around so long it feels like he should be much older. Looking back through this thread, we were all kinds of hyped for Brett Jackson. Haha, how things change.

Here's to hoping Baez finds a way to not be like those guys.

Edit, instead of a triple post: Baez wearing #9 in the big leagues.

Note to @javy23baez fans, when I find out his uni number and the lineup, I'll post it. Until then, take a deep breath and relax. #Cubs

                    Baez is going with 9.

                    He's batting 2nd, playing 2nd.

Interesting putting him in the 2 hole. I would've guessed 6 or 7

Lol yeah, unless Carrie's reading the lineup wrong/there's a conspiracy.

Like I thought, Blake Parker is sent down to make room for Baez. Fujikawa is in Colorado, but not on the 25 man at the moment. So, another move appears to be in the works. Probably Rusin.

Yep, this was confirmed several hours ago on Chicago AM sports radio 670 WSCR as well.

I like it. Cool Papa Rizzo can provide him some of this mythical lineup protection.

For locals, the game is on CSNa (Comcast Sports Net alternate) since the White Sox are on CSN against Texas tonight. I read an interesting Jon Greenberg article (might be the first time a sentence has ever started this way) in which he mentioned that both Cubs and Sox are in the bottom 5 in baseball with local TV ratings.
