Jokes aside- bench this piece of ****. Move Russell over to SS, and call up Alcantara to play 2nd.

Time to really start moving this train in the right direction. Cut the anchor and go.
Just saw the play, and it was absolutely bad. The physical error is one thing, but the lack of attention to realize the ball is still in play is unacceptable. I'm interested to see how Maddon handles it, because he's not going anywhere anytime soon. Theo isn't going to just get rid of him.

I do find it funny though that the 2 ballplayers you singled out yesterday came through today the most to get that 'W' in Lester and Castro. Maybe they read OS?

The way people defend Castro, you'd think dude carried a career .330 average with 5 Gold Gloves already.

I swear, I think some of you guys would rather have him over Tulo.

I'm not a Cubs fan, but being a baseball fan first I've watched the Cubs going back to the 1980s. Cubs fans might not see it, but this team is turning a corner as an organization that I've not seen in my lifetime. When I watch them under Maddon's leadership and with all the young players, I can't help but think the next 10 years of Cubs baseball will rival their run from 1904-1914. For the first time in 100 years, I think it's a good time to be a Cubs fan.

What do you think Theo is going to do at the deadline this year? I kinda think he looks for young bullpen help that won't cost him much, that way we fix a weakness if we end up a wildcard team, and we keep our farm system in place for a potential sellout next year

I think that depends on how Soriano and Ramirez look when they join the roster.

                    I could see Theo going after a starter, but I don't think it's a Hamels/Cueto-level guy. I actually hope he doesn't.

Haven't been on to discuss, but man, this team is coming into it's own. Finally getting a real glimpse into what could be the start of a really special run.

Unfortunately Theo already opened the package and it's past the 30 day return policy.

                            LOL.

Why didn't they just wait a year and get Price?? It'd be more money, but the return investment would make much more sense.

Lester isn't worth a 5-year/$75 million deal let alone what he got.

First Edwin Jackson, then Lester. Maybe Theo needs to stay away from the free agent pitching market.

I actually really liked the Lester signing, and I still do. I think he's getting frustrated with himself at this point and is trying too hard. His body language on the mound today was really bad.

I think he'll get it turned around in the 2nd half.. at least I hope so.

If Theo stayed away from free agent pitching we would be without:

                                Addison Russell (your golden boy)
                                Billy McKinney
                                Pedro Strop
                                Jake Arrieta
                                and so on..

You can't win them all, Edwin Jackson is proof of that. But to label Lester a bust before the first half of his first season as a Cub is a little ridiculous.

Just enjoy the success we're having, because for the first time in what feels like forever we can finally say we have major league proof that things are looking up for us. This team wasn't built to be serious contenders in 2015. Don't worry though, I'm sure we have enough money to make a run at Price or another high level starting pitcher during the offseason for you to complain about next year when he's not pitching at a CY Young level.
