Depends on how comfortable we are playing Alcantara in CF every day. If we are, then sure, that would make sense for him to come up and play 2B.
Haven't heard anything serious about us wanting to move Boni though.Comment

I guess I was wrong, the move makes sense though. A few teams in on him right now. Heard that a deal is "close." He's also not in the lineup for tonight's game.
We also picked up Felix Doubront from Boston for a PTBNL.Last edited by k_mac; 07-30-2014, 02:57 PM.Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
Why not?
Theo's regime signed him out of Venezuela, so they're taking a flyer on a guy they know. That's all it is, a flyer. Same thing we did with Jake Arrieta, Scott Feldman, Paul Maholm. Not by any means saying that he's going to have success like those guys (especially not Arrieta) or that he has the track record. I haven't seen anything pointing towards a rotation spot opening up for him, so he'll probably go to AAA.
You can never have too much pitching. That's what it comes down to.Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
Don't know about you guys, but I'm practically done with Castro. Dude has no giddy-up to his game anymore.
He's gone down in everything but power. That's the only attribute he's gone up in since he broke in the Big Leagues. He's slower, not as rangy, his arm is worse, and his hitting is worse. It's like he's 34 instead of 24.
If they choose to move one of their 3 shortstops, I hope it's him.Comment

He's slumping a bit right now, but I'd like to see what Baez and Russell can do at the highest level before sending a young, very good player on his way.Comment

His defense is better, which really isn't saying much. It could only go up from last year.
He's clearly not the same guy he was in his first 2 years here.
I, for some reason, watch just about every Cubs game that's on, and it gets aggravating watching him play. He really does seem 'lazier' with his play.
He's just got this lackadaisical approach to the game that drives me nuts.Last edited by ThreeKing; 07-31-2014, 01:03 AM.Comment

I get that for whatever strange reason, you dont like Starlin. I dont know, maybe he kicked your dog once. Doesnt matter to me.
But to say he's gotten lazier is just flat out wrong.
Sidenote, how does one gauge Lazy?Last edited by Mo; 07-31-2014, 10:03 AM.Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
Yeah, I'm not seeing the "lazy" play, either. But you see what you want to, so if you don't like him, that's what you'll focus in on and what conclusion you'll go to.Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
I don't understand how you guys don't see it. It's been there for the last few years. Well documented actually.
Anyway, they have 3 shortstops now. Who would you rather see go? They can't keep all 3, right? Or does Russell go to 3rd when he gets called up? Bryant in RF?
These are great problems to have.Comment
