Him coming to the bigs and hitting .200 does nothing for him, and does nothing for us.
I beg to differ, he'd be replacing Coughlan, so automatically the team is better defensively.

And what is Coughlan hitting right now anyways?

A team adding more Power, a better runner and improving the defense. Win/Win for me.

Well not necessarily. He'd be replacing LaStella if Bryant moved to LF.

Pretty sure LaStella is set to return to the big league club within the next week or so and would most likely be the favorite to move to either 2nd or 3rd depending on what they decide to do with Russell.

Didnt La Stella reinjure himself though?(dont remember the severity of it) I think that was why Baez name starting popping up again.

Possibly. Other than about 4-5 days ago I had seen any updates regarding him other than him being close to returning.

Let Baez swing the bat in Iowa until the all-star break.

It's hard to imagine him positively impacting this team enough to matter right now...it's surely more valuable to have him playing every day in AAA.

AFTER the ASB...are the Cubs reasonably in contention? If not, bring him up whenever...if they are in contention, Baez will have had half a season to prove he should get a shot to help out.

I know Coghlan has been unlucky thus far but his defense man. I know Baez still has issues but if he keeps developing and has his K Rate at a decent rate you can accept. He'd be a welcome addition late in the year. Not now though.

Yeah LaStella re-aggravated his injury so he's probably out for another 2-3 weeks.

Theo has said publicly that they won't play Baez in the OF in AAA.. and none of Baez, Russell, or Castro has played 3B at all. So I'm not sure what the idea is with the 3 of them. My guess at this point is the FO hopes Baez continues to hit at AAA and raises his trade value back up so they can get a young arm for him.

Damn, was hoping to have him back so they could slide him in to the 2 spot. His plate discipline would be a welcome addition in front of Rizzo and Bryant.

Even though Bryant looks really good at 3rd, I'm warming up to the fact of moving him to LF.

I know the Cubs are contending right now, but bringing up Baez won't hurt them in my opinion. They're not expected to win it all this year anyway. I say let the kid figure it out. It took Rizzo a year and a half to get going.

Next year is when they really start to make a serious push towards winning the whole thing. Almora and Schwarber will be called up next year also. They have to let these kids develop at some point anyway. Not every prospect will come up with the mental approach of Bryant and Russell.

As an old *** Cub fan I don't take anything for granted. "On Paper" we look built for a the long haul. And we're not trying to contend this year. But the bottom line is we're nearing the quarter pole and we're right in it. There is NO guarantees in sports, especially baseball. This year should be treated like we're in it to win it. I'm not saying blow up the team or anything, but I don't want to experiment with everything. Stay the course.

For those old enough to remember. The '85 Bears as dominant as they were, were also the youngest team in the NFL the year they won the Super Bowl. We all thought they would have at LEAST one more trophy. They never even got to the Super Bowl with that group again. Assume nothing. All we have is this year.

                        Fowler--Montero--Rizzo--Bryant

This would suit me just fine. Lots of rbis in that for Rizzo and Bryant.

There's no one else they can put at #2...unless they roll the dice with Castro and hope that he gets on base more frequently with the big bats protecting him.

I believe in these guys...in the long run...

but right now the strikeouts, the errors, and the bullpen woes are just too much for me to be very bullish right now.

Castro and Soler are becoming black holes. Castro has the worst OBP in the lineup...One has to forgive Soler to some degree, but he's could threaten 180 strikeouts.

I loved the way both Castro and Soler started the year, and I know that they just ran of 6 in a row against good competition...but unless 2 of the 3 issues mentioned get straightened out, and at least one of Castro/Soler picks up the slack...it's gonna be tough.

                            That being said, GO CUBS!

Glad someone else is noticing Castro's bull****. His act is wearing very thin.

The Mets are contending and desperately need a shortstop and they don't even want him. It's not that Theo's asking for the moon; they just don't want him. Even the most ardent Castro backers have to open their eyes at that one.

What sphincter are you pulling this from? You working in the Mets front office? There have been rumors for over a year now that they have been talking, but now it's some concrete evidence because they haven't made deal, that everyone should hop on the Hate Castro Agenda Train?

Go away with this nonsense man.
