Pretty good article on ESPN about Mat Latos performance last night.
On a beautiful 80-degree night in Cincinnati, Latos pitched perhaps the best game of his career, a complete-game four-hitter in the Reds' 3-1 victory over the Brewers. Latos struck out a career-high 13 in a dominating performance, perhaps leaving Reds fans wondering: Where has this guy been all season?

Well, how's Alonzo doing in San Diego, anyway? But yeah, been waiting on this Latos. It's a long season, with ups and downs for ALL players. Hopefully he's on the upswing with that gem.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

He has to see this. He struggles w/ Braun and walks a guy using nothing but strikes. Starts Aramis off w/ 2 sliders and sits him down in three pitches.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

LOL @ Chapman doing somersaults. I guess his back is fine.
Glad to see a good outing by Chapman, hopefully he can get some of his confidence back.Last edited by Buckeyes_Doc; 06-26-2012, 09:31 PM.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

So glad Votto and Bruce talked to him about it after the game.
I heard Price really laid into him right after he did it.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Yeah act like you've been there before. I love his enthusiasm but he should stick to the high fives.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Seriously? Dude has been under immense pressure, almost helps blow a save, then finally gets out w/ the save.
I wound have jumped up and down he did taunt anyone, he did a freaking front roll and had a big *** smile. That said relief to me, not bragging.
Make sure you guys tell the QB's of your favorite teams to act like they've been there before after they throw a game winning TD.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

There's getting pumped up that you closed out the game....and then there's what Chapman did last night. That was freaking stupid and Bush League. But at least Chapman was throwing his slider last night for a holy crap moment.
And I don't want to be negative...but we won this game in spite of Dusty trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
It's a shame that after Bronson's near no-no, he ends up with a no decision because Dusty left a tiring Arroyo in the game to face a lefty....when you have a rested bullpen and a lefty in Sean Marshall who has been filthy recently.Last edited by jasontoddwhitt; 06-27-2012, 11:00 AM.Comment

Idk, would we be criticizing Dusty for costing him a no hitter or a complete game? Or are you talking once the hits started coming?Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

How is that bush league? It's ok for guys to celebrate in every other sport except baseball it seems. Didn't bother me at all, but whatever.

And I'm talking once the hits started coming. Because when Arroyo loses it, he loses it quickly.Comment

Comparing celebrating in baseball to celebrating in football is apples and oranges.
It didn't bother me, it just seemed out of place. I thought it was more funny then anything.Last edited by Buckeyes_Doc; 06-27-2012, 11:22 AM.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Why? Is there an unwritten rule to not celebrate? Again, I'm not trying to argue, I'm asking serious questions. My reactions was to laugh and think he's relieved. We've all been in situations in which we're so happy/relieved, we do a little more than a fist pump.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

I'm still somewhat new to baseball so I guess I'm behinds a little on what's "allowed". I see no issues w/ it and stand by, if you don't like it, don't let him strike you out or hit a HR. I digress though.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

And Homer just broke an unwritten rule...surrendering a home run on an 0-2 pitch.
EDIT: And Dusty kills me. I would've been making a motion to the bullpen before my foot hit the dirt. He has to go out there and talk to Homer and when the umpire comes up to break it up, then he motions to the bullpen. As if Homer was going to talk his way into staying in this game. Second straight start he's blown.Last edited by jasontoddwhitt; 06-27-2012, 01:00 PM.Comment
