Would like to keep Choo, but no way signing for 14 per, any interest in Morse?
I'm not saying we will be able to keep Choo, but if they are interested in moving Bailey and/or Phillips in the offseason I think they could afford Choo then.
I don't see it happening so we better hope Hamilton can play every day in the majors.

Looks like BP got his GG back that he got robbed of last year by that Daryl lick in Chicago. BO even had a down yr this season, so I wasnt sure he would get it, but glad he did.

Bruce unfortunately didnt get a GG, as it went to Parra. I was hoping Bruce would finally get a GG this year, he desrevd it, but Parra is pretty darm good too.

              Where would Trumbo play?
He is horrible in the OF, there is a reason they play him at IB or DH.

If we trade for a LF or sign one, what do we do with Ludwick? He's still owed quite a bit of $$$.

That is probably why they won't do anything about LF.

LOL, Trumbo is better than Dunn in the OF. He is a avg LF'er, that wouldnt hurt out there with what he adds with the bat. He is about as good on LF as Choo was in CF. Unfortunately we have Luddy and he is basically untradeable at this point, so the chance of improving LF probably wont be happening, and we just got to hope Ludwick can get back to what he was in 12.

Other than Choo not being back, I think we will basically have the same team other than maybe a new bench player or 2. I think all the BP trade talk is just that, talk and nothing more. Just a reporter trying to stir things up more than anything. I cant imagine with us wanting to win now we trade arguably the most important player in the team. Now if Walt thinks this team needs more than just a new manager and hitting coach to get them over the top then I could see BP being shopped if they dont want to trade any pitching to get what they need. Considering Votto and Bruce wont be going anywhere and not many would want Votto's contract to begin with, that would leave BP as the best trade bait we have position player wise, cause no one else on the team is worth a darn in way of trade. Personally I think Walt feels a new manager and hitting coach should get us over the top. Without Choo we only have Votto, Bruce and BP as productive players offensively, so it wouldnt make a lot of sense to weaken that any further.

Your crazy if you dont think teams would take Votto in a heart beat. His contract isnt that bad and there would be multiple teams interested in him if they thought he was available. Matter of fact many in baseball didnt get the Reds giving Phillips as much as they did but you heard no one talk about Votto getting too much.
I dont think this team will be anything like last years.
Choo who was your most reliable player and the best lead off hitter we have had for years will be gone. Arroyo who has been our most consistant pitcher for the last 8 years will be gone. I honestly think BP will be traded this offseason. I really dont think Walt is that high on him and would take young talent for him right now. Turn back the clock to the end of the year last year. Phillips was getting ready to hit free agency and Walt took his sweet time to sign him. He went as far as to say he wasnt talking to BP until Votto was extended and Votto wasnt even going into free agency. Also listening to an interview a couple weeks ago Walt was not happy with the way BP stormed into Dusty's office and chewed out C. Trent. Lile i said i could really see him traded and traded soon.
Oh and hello we have a new manager who will manage nothing like Dusty did. They have two totally different outlooks on the game.
So yes there will be significant changes, losing two all stars and your most consistant pitcher is a big deal.

There is not many teams who could afford Votto's contract, so thats why I said not many would want him, lol.
If you think were going to have a totally different look next year your kidding yourself. Probably wont have Bronson, and my guess is we wont have Choo either although I would love to have him back. Other than that I think we will see basically the same team.
If Walt feels like he can strengthen the team and maybe add some prospects cause of the farm being so weak then I see BP being used in a trade, cause the only others worth anything without trading pitching is Votto and Bruce and very few teams would want Votto's contract, and Bruce isnt going anywhere, same with Bruce. Bruce should be our best overall player going forward unless Votto figures out how to play defense again, and even then Bruce is on the upswing IMO.
Walt dont seem to interested in trading pitching or my guess is he would have traded some to get Choo last year and kept Didi. So going to be hard to change a lot when you have nothing of value to trade in way of position players. BP would be the only one that would make sense to move cause he could bring something of value back, but it will weaken us to a extent defensively, and unless we get a solid 2nd baseman back or sing one, it will weaken us offensively as well cause we have know 2nd baseman of quality in the system. Unless you think Henry Rodriguez is quality, LMBO, if anyone thinks that then they dont know much about baseball, this kid is a complete joke defensively, and Im not sure he can even hit big league pitching either.
Like BP or Hate him, he is one of the best 2nd baseman in baseball, and the best defensive 2nd baseman in the NL. He has been one of our key players for the last few years, and has been jacked around the lineup and not said anything about it, and has done a adequate job wherever he was asked to hit. Basically BP is a jakced of all trades offensive player, not great at any one spot but good wherever he hits. Not to many players can move around and do what BP has.

Why didn't the Reds make a qualifying offer to Bronson? He's stated he wants a 3-year deal. Okay that's fine. Make the qualifying offer and any team that signs him would have to give up a compensatory pick. Seems dumb on the Reds part. He wasn't going to take that 1-year offer from them.

It's simple, they don't want to pay him $14.1 million next year.
He would take the $14.1 million and simply become a FA next year.

Good article. I'm not quite clear on whether he values a multi-year deal more than a 1-year deal at $14.1 million though. I read what he said but I didn't pick up on it as easily as you may have. Kind of conflicting statements. The Mets blogger is speculating that he'd take it if offered. Regardless the Reds didn't make him that offer so it's moot.
