Reds non tender Xavier Paul and Derrick Robinson. Robinson was gone as he was DFAd last week to make room for Shumaker. The decision to non-tender Paul makes me think that Shumaker will be the left-handed outfield bat, and not the backup 2B.

Reds have a long way to go to finalize this roster. I still don't see the Reds carrying four catchers on the 40-man, which makes you think Hanigan is likely gone.

There is a lot of value now that got non-tendered. Garrett Jones, Justin Turner, Christian Martinez, Chris Coghlan, and Ryan Webb.

Hell, Paul Janish is also available.

Trade market for Hanigan is dried up, heard some Rays rumors but with their latest signings no way the trade for Hanigan. Paul move makes sense as he was going to see a good pay increase to be a LH pinch hitter those are a dime a dozen or simply move some minor leagues up in that role Lutz

I was hearing those same Rays rumors, but I'd say those are now null and void with them....

Except now sources are saying Hanigan has been traded to the Rays as part of a three-team trade. Stay tuned...

I think Hanigan has a bounce back year for Tampa, and I wish him well. He never fully recovered from that injury imo and struggled offensively from it, although his defense/game calling was still great.
Hope we get a solid player back.

So, if Hanigan stays healthy, what can we expect from him? Please factor in Rays voodoo magic to your calculations.

He's gonna maximize that pitching staff just as Molina did. Down year last year but I think we expected more finally after being treated to some pretty good under the radar seasons. Y'all will love him.

Hannigan will be gods gift to the Rays staff. He can call a great game.

Unless this somehow brings back Price, A.Hill or Zobrist to free up a deal for Phillips then I think the Reds were better off dealing Mesoraco.

The Reds staff will struggle with Mesoraco calling 95%+ of the games next season. He just has not learned how to call a game yet and he isnt even close. Shocked B. Price let this go through.

Hope he gets a better deal in Tampa than Dusty gave him here. He did not deserve to be batting 8th in the lineup but that stupid Baker mentality of baserunners just clogging up the basepaths made him always bat Hannigan lower than he should have.

Edit: Update says Heath Bell part of the deal. I pray to god we did not just acquire Broxton 2.0. We already have an underachieving overweight setup man.

He's a career .262 hitter with a OBP of .360. If thats terrible then 80% of major league baseball is terrible.

LUCKY TO BE ON A MLB ROSTER????

Hes the second best defensive catcher in the national league baseball behind Molina.
