I read a couple pages back (cant remember who wrote it) that we should all start just ignoring Hustin's post because he is so wrong 99% of time.
But the thing is it just too damn much fun proving him wrong all the time.
He is pure entertainment for me, makes the day at work go faster reading all his posts that are completetly wrong. And the good thing is he just doesnt go away like most people would when they are constantly proved wrong on a forum. He just keeps posting more wrong "facts".

Have you only been a fan of the Reds since 2013? Because if you were a fan before that, which at this time I'm gonna go ahead and guess you weren't, then you would know the Hanigan has actually been MORE than adequate at the plate for his career outside of this past season.

From the 2009 season through the 2012 season (first full seasons of his career) he batted .275. Yes, this past year he sucked and no one would argue that. IN fact, most don't argue that it is time to give Mez a chance to be a full time catcher. But to just straight up ignore facts and proclaim with certainty that Hanigan sucks offensively is just silly.

As for Schumaker, again, you aren't letting facts get in your way here.

A career .285 hitter who bats left handed. He has been in the league a WHOPPING 8 years and is at the ripe old age of 33. Yeah, I can see how a player that plays multiple positions (albeit not great but he isn't an everyday player so who cares), is known to hustle and can provide some MUCH needed leadership in the clubhouse is a washed up player. Not to mention he came up in the Cards organization so he has been part of winning and knows what it takes and is like.

As for Pitching Coaches making good MLB Managers. I got nothing. You are right for the most part. There hasn't been a lot of successful managers that were Pitching Coaches. So does that mean there is NO CHANCE that Price can be successful? Of course it doesn't.

Since you seem to have the all important crystal ball, let me know who is going to win the World Series next year, along with MVP, Cy Young and ROY for both leagues. I need to make some money.

Bottom line is that we could not let Price get away. He has done far too much with the staff not to at least take a chance on him while we have him. If they don't offer him the job he leaves for Miami and does who knows what. At least now you are going to succeed or fail with a guy that has repeatedly come through for you in the past.

The only thing this team is missing is the attitude that there is no tomorrow. That was always the problem with Dusty and you could see it in the series with the Giants and the one game wild card this year. He always managed like losing was no big deal. That works during the regular season to keep your players on an even keel and not roller coaster but its easy to see why he fails repeatedly in the playoffs. Unfortunately the players adopted that attitude. Hopefully Price can bring that, but I think this first year might be a struggle.

Nice try, but I quoted you correctly. You called Hanigan a bum and said he sucks offensively and then said bring on Barnhart. Barnhart is the exact same type of player. Weak offense with great defense. You can't even keep from contradicting yourself because you have no idea what you are talking about.

And Mez also had a horrendous catching ERA in 2012. Cueto and Arroyo all but refused to pitch to him in 2012. His ERA came down last year yes but he's got a long way to go to get to Hanigan numbers.

Mez is better offensively but he could bat .400 and go 40/40 and if he repeats his 4.2 he posted in 2012 then the Reds will lose 100 games playing in GABP.

I wanna see what Price does with him. Could get a better deal during the year, too.
The front office never wanted to trade Phillips. The big man wanted him gone for personal reasons. Jocketty knows he has the second best second baseman in the league locked up for multiple years but you have to entertain the request of the man that signs the checks. Personally if they traded him because Castellini wanted him gone then I would have been fine with it after what he has done opening up the purse strings and letting Jocketty put this team together.

                    I'm speechless

Fowler hit .263/.369/.407 last year and STRUCKOUT 105 times last year.

SLIGHTLY more power than Hanigan's 2012 line (that apparently sucked offensively according to you) with 70+ more ks. And you would LOVE to see him in center field! Let's throw him right at the top of the lineup as well since we are short a leadoff hitter. It would be fantastic to have Drew Stubbs 2.0 back in the lineup.

                    Your opinions really are something.

                        I disagree
I think Walt would trade Brandon in a heart beat.
He wasnt happy with what he did last year with C.Trent and he has questioned his "hustle" too.
Although Ken Rosethal is now saying that Phillips will be a Red next year.

I'm sure he WOULD trade him but my statement was they didn't WANT to trade him. Jocketty does value and he knows he would not be able to make the team better by trading Phillips. He just wasn't going to get equal value back to what Phillips brings to the table. The Ocho Cinco attitude is a problem, but until it becomes such an issue it is damaging the team it doesn't make baseball sense to trade him unless its for something better. Castellini was upset over the article and made a declaration that he wanted him gone for reasons other than baseball. That's the only reason Phillip's name ever hit the news wire linked with a trade. Cooler heads have probably prevailed.

The only deals I saw that were even possible Jocketty to consider was the Yankees or the Dodgers. Gardner, prospect + tons of cash from the Yankees or Kemp/Crawford + cash from the Dodgers.

Just curious…who would you put top 5?

I've got Cano, Pedrioa as the best and then Utley, Carpenter, Hill, Zobrist, Phillips all in the next group.
