I'd send Hoover down. It's long overdue. Don't release him though. He's still young.MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Swept by the Yanks, rough couple games.
And Hoover most definitely does not deserve a spot in the Reds' bullpen.

Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
I can't believe I'm actually saying this- Until Santiago cools down, he needs to be in the lineup everyday. Guy is up to .280. What's pitiful is the lineup today, Billy ****ing Hamilton had the second highest slugging percentage after Frazier. That should not be happening, when Bruce, Ludwick & Pena were in the lineup. Pitiful.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
Thanks to injuries and Uncle Jocketty sleeping in the front office, this team is the Bad News Bears. We have a lineup full of has-been's and never-was's. At one point, we had six players on the field who weren't even projected to be on the Opening Day roster....ON THE FIELD.
But hey, Jack Hannahan will be back soon [/ sarcasm]
If Jocketty doesn't make a move soon (Zobrist please), he should be fired for insubordination.Comment

Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
Yeah these injuries have really put a huge damper on our playoff hopes. It's such a shame because we're getting such great contributions from guys we weren't counting on.
We're staying afloat with good pitching and the replacements holding their own, but I feel like it's only a matter of time until the bandaids fall off.
I don't even know if trading away any prospects we may have for stop-gaps is a good idea. Why risk the future just to maybe, possibly make the playoffs this year? The NL is winnable, but I'd put us at the bottom of the handful of teams that can legitimately win it. I know that seems contradictory; we should capitalize on an open NL. But unless we make a serious blockbuster deal, which I highly doubt, I don't think riding out this season with what we have is such a bad idea. A couple of moves (like to get Ludwick off the field) is fine by me provided it's done responsibly.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills

Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
The problem right now is that there are so many injuries, the only healthy positional player on the 40-man roster down in Louisville right now is catcher Tucker Barnhardt. That almost forces us to have to make a move just to survive.
And while the farm is not exactly bare with talents like Robert Stephenson, Phillip Ervin, and Yorman Rodriguez just to name a few, it's not exactly loaded with talent either. Meanwhile, we are presently in the window for competing with this roster. I say make a move now to bolster the roster.....mostly because I don't have the faith in the front office to make some shrewd moves to bolster the farm the system without sacrificing the major league club too much.Comment

Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
They have a couple guys hitting in Louisville, they just aren't on the 40 man. Rey Navarro was hitting the ball better than Negron was and he can play SS/2B yet Negron got the call over him. Felix Perez has had a pretty good year as well in RF there and has had a little pop. Bryan Anderson has hit catching in AA/AAA this year as well. I'd rather give him a shot tbh if Mes/Pena get hurt again over Barnhart.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
Triple A team would have had a better effort. Reds need to call up Rey Navarro, Felix Perez, Ruben Gotay, etc and give them a chance to hit. Bruce, Cozart, Santiago, Schumaker, etc sure aren't doing the job.
This team should pack it in and play for next year. Shut down Phillips & Votto. Trade away Broxton/Bailey (if you can) to get a bat. If there is a big enough offer, trade Latos or Cueto. The Reds with their mismanaged budget (thanks Walt!) won't be able to keep them anyway.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals
