Was at the game tonight. The throw Polanco made was a really good one. It was only out #1. I'm more disappointed in the fact Ludwick and Pena struck out right after that. I'm sure Ludwick is a nice guy but he's worthless post shoulder-surgery.

Like redsrule said, he was hitting .186 six games ago. He's playing now because BP and Schumaker are both hurt. He's a career .243 hitter, including his current .260 average. The guy is a nice guy to have fill in every now-and-then because he can play all over the place. But I still think it is an utter joke that somebody like him can make $1 million a season and be that poor at their job. I'm sure there are worse players likely making more. But that's the going rate for a 34-year-old utility IF in baseball, I guess. It is what it is.

Neftali Soto should never be on a major league roster. He is awful.

Rather have Meso up there and Pirates have to pitch to him no IBB to face Ludwick

Polanco made a great throw and Martin did a great job catching the ball and applying the tag. Not on Santiago/Smith. Ryan Ludwick had the bases loaded with one out and struck out. That is on him.

Doesn't change the fact that the rule you posted as "Baseball 101" has nothing to do with home plate.

oh well my rule and as above the Reds would be better off implementing it than what Smith has been doing all year. Give me Meso vs LHP instead of Santiago testing a throw with zero outs

What I want to know is how many of those times it happened in a 1-run game.

                            May 29th: 23-29 (8.5 out of first)
                            July 14th: 51-44 (1.5 out of first)

With all the injuries and what not, this is amazing.

Walt needs to make a move to give us the best chance of tiding us over till we get BP back and if we can keep Votto glued together. Ben Zobrist would be nice to have.

The problem is, when it comes to any potential trade, is the Reds farm system is awful. You're not giving up Stephenson or Winker (I would hope not at least) for a guy like Zobrist. The Rays probably wouldn't take anything less. When David Holmberg is your #6 prospect in your org, it shows how bad the farm system really is.

We just need a replacement level player to keep that position from becoming a blackhole. It's BP's spot when he gets back.

Thinking back, remember the rumors of moving BP this offseason? I shudder at the thought. I think we underestimated how big a piece of our team he is, even though we all know how good he is and has been for the better part of the last decade. Can't believe it's been that long. I remember when we acquired him. He just took off from there.
