No...no...and no. And yeah, E5 is correct, because there would be lots of E5s...to the tune of 20+. He was such a defensive liability that his bat couldn't make up for it in his time with the Reds.
It was the right move at the time for the Reds.Comment

His production was on a downward trend the last couple years and he was batting a whopping .209 when he left Cincy with 43 game played. Couple that with his atrocious defense, and it made sense.#WeAreUKComment

Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
16-9 in their last 25, and at it should be even better than that if they didn't blows the games against Milwaukee, Pittsburgh & Toronto. They should be on a 12 game winning streak right now.
Leake, Cueto & Simon really helped the bullpen out in the last three days. All going deep into the game so they really didn't have to use the bullpen, which is huge after that disaster in game one against Toronto.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
Mike Leake pitched his best game in the majors last night. 12 strikeouts. He was dominant. Bruce is finally hitting better (average up to .240 from .205), Phillips had a good night as well. All we need is Votto to come back (who knows if that will happen) to his normal self and we might be capable of making some noise.
2 games over .500 for the first time this year. Got our ace on the hill tonight. Hope they can make it 3.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
When our guys are on, this is how good our team is. It just seems if we're pitching, we ain't hitting. If we're hitting, our bullpen ain't pitching.
We got a little more under .500 then was comfortable. I thought we might pack it in early and concede this season as just average. We still have a really good team, and getting contributions from Mesoraco and Frazier who we weren't counting on to hit so well have carried us to this point. Now it's time to call on the big guns to allow those guys to ease into a supporting role.
The starting pitching has been a god send. It's like the bullpen said, "We're gassed/ineffective," and the starters took the ball and didn't relinquish it. I really like that mettle, to be backed up against it, and the best pitchers on our team really put the team on their back.
There's plenty of season, and we're gonna need another strong summer push to challenge STL and MIL. Speaking of whom, I expect MIL to fall back down a bit but still challenge for the division and wild card. STL will probably step their game up too, in unison with the Reds just to block us from taking the division and play the Wild Card Death Trap Game.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
I don't understand why the Reds aren't treating Votto like they are Phillips, in that BP seems to be getting regular days off (and seems to do fantastic the day after a day off)? I realize he missed 3 games due to his heel, but he has gotten a couple games off here and there. Other than his time on the DL, Votto has played every game.
Votto seemed to be grimacing in pain last night (or grimacing that he was guessing wrong...it's hard to tell sometimes). After getting a hit in 10 of his first 11 games off the DL, Votto is suddenly 1 for his last 13. Get him a day off Price, even if Votto doesn't want to be taken out of the lineup.Last edited by jasontoddwhitt; 06-27-2014, 02:22 PM.Comment

Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
The Reds have signed Cuban right-handed pitcher Rasiel Iglesias to a seven-year contract through the 2020 season.
UPDATED: The value of the deal is $27 million, a source told MLB.com’s Jesse Sanchez. It includes a signing bonus estimated between $5-6 million. It is a Major League contract. Iglesias will get the roster spot of OF Roger Bernadina, who refused an outright assignment and elected to be a free agent.
Iglesias, a 24-year-old reliever, threw in a showcase for the big league scouts last month in Haiti. He pitched for Cuba in the 2013 World Baseball Classic. He will join the organization once his visa issues are settled.
In November, Iglesias successfully defected from Cuba and currently resides in Mexico.
Although he is a reliever, the Reds believe he can be a starter.
