    Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread

I'm a closest Reds fan... I'm a fan of w/e team Junior played for...

With that said... Who do you think the Reds draft?

Personally I'm hoping that Trae Turner falls to them but I'm not sure that will happen... If not Turner, I think the Reds go HS pitcher.

Not sure that it much matters. Whoever we pick, there will be someone or several players that are far better that we will wish we got. The early rounders will show some promise in the minors and when they get their call to the BIGS they will forget how to hit, pitch, field or throw...or all of it. The one that maybe makes it through and seems to be a legit starter with a high ceiling will have a couple really good seasons, sign a 10-15 year contract for more money than anyone deserves and then will serve the next 7 years on the DL off and on.

And the ones that showed some promise but get traded in a lopsided trade favoring the other team, will be awesome or at least serviceable. The good news is though, we will get those players back when they are 3 years past being worth a crap.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a Debbie Downer right now. Or as some might call it a "HustlinOwl" (jk hustlin!)

We'd be so ****ed without Votto anchoring our lineup. It's crazy because we have other players like Phillips & Bruce, but Votto makes the machine go. That's where he earns his money, in my opinion. Just the presence of an MVP in the lineup.

Cruz wasn't worth giving up a first. Walt screwed this team with ****ty extensions to Ludwick, Marshall, etc.

The offense right now is just abysmal. They need Votto back bad.

Actually he was. He admitted he played hurt for over two weeks before they shut him down. Which would coincide with his average going from .309 to .257 and his OBP going from .452 to .410.

3 game winning streak now. Offense showed signs of life in this series, although it was pathetic today. Should have scored a bunch more than 4 runs.

Chapman getting comfortable using his changeup and slider a lot more now. That's not even fair lol.

Sounding like Votto could be close to beginning a rehab stint (why didn't they send Bruce on a rehab stint?). And if Latos next rehab start goes well, he could be back as well.

And Price has told Ludwick he is no longer the regular LF, as it will be a platoon between him, Heisey, and Schumaker.

                          Baby steps folks.

Votto is all about his numbers and highly doubt he was hurting as he said knee and no injury there so they went to his quads?? 38-17 without him last time

At least he is trying. Dusty would have Hamilton on the bench with Heisey leading off and Cozart in the two hole and wouldn't change anything after the struggle. At least he is being proactive and trying to get this offense turned around.
It's not his fault they've battled all of these injuries and Bruce's offense has been abysmal, plus their bench production has been non existent. The latter is on Walt Jocketty though, signing guys like Santiago & Bernandina to help the bench.

Agreed on the last part. This homestand is huge. Lets hope the bats come to life and they can win all three series!
