    Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread

Pretty sad when a pitcher pitches 9 consecutive games giving up 2 runs or less over 7 innings and only gets 6 decisions with a record of 4-2.

I know Cueto had some run support yesterday, but man he should literally be anywhere from 7-0 to 9-0 right now.

The injuries this year have been unreal. According to Ken Rosenthal Votto having MRI on same knee he had surgery on and DL stint is likely.

I was at the game yesterday for Cueto's start. It's crazy how good he has been.

Ugh. We couldn't lose Votto. Not now!

I hate when my superheroes turn human. I really do have this boyhood hero image of Votto like he's the great man to ever walk the Earth. It's disturbing haha

MRI revealed a strained quad for Votto. He said it's been bothering him the past couple weeks, which coincides with his dip in performance.

Joey, I know you hate being taken out of the lineup. I commend you for that. But dude, we need you at 100%. Put him on the DL, give him two weeks off so he can come back healthy and we can make a run at this.

Agreed 100% Jason. Also, I love Devin Mesoraco. On fire before hitting the DL, comes back and immediately hits that three run home run. I was watching the game with my dad and called that when he came up. He's obviously not going to hit .450, but if he can stay around .300 while hitting for power he can really make a huge impact for this team (and my fantasy team!).

This team needs a new LF. I've been saying that since last year too.

Devin Mesoraco up to .500 on the year now. At least he can still hit...

                    Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread

We can never seem to have all our pieces working in unison. Just read an article proclaiming Cueto as the best pitcher in the league this year. Got me to thinking, heading into this season, there was debate as to him not even being the best pitcher on this staff (Latos, with Bailey providing competition as well).

Well, of course Latos has been hurt, Bailey's been inconsistent, and the offense is yet to fire on all cylinders and likely won't without Votto in the lineup.

It's amazing we can have two of the best pitchers in the league (and a 3rd who has pitched well with a few highlight no hitters), a closer who strikes out like 2 out of 3 batters, and a potential MVP candidate and still sitting a couple games under .500.

We are approaching that scary territory of being really good (or at least the past few seasons, and this one is far from over) without having practically anything to show for it. I'm talking about that Atlanta Braves area of the late 90s and early 2000s. Obviously not even close to the success they had even it only captured one WS (hey, I'd take it at this point!), but a consistent run of winning seasons and playoff appearances with not even a series win.

It just worries me we'll be stuck here, be forced to make some changes, and fall back to the early 2000s Reds performances. I don't want to go back to that place.

So who goes to the bullpen when Latos returns....Simon or Cingrani?

                        I think it's Cingrani.

And ballsy of Price to have an impromptu meeting in the dugout for all the world to see. I'd like to think it was something like this....

Cingrani. You CAN'T take Simon out of the rotation the way he's been pitching. You just can't. After Cueto he has been our best pitcher.

Then send Cingrani to Louisville so he can continue starting there. OR use him out of the bullpen with the big club to save some of his arm for later in the season. OR 6-man rotation! It's so crazy, it might just work.
