Perfect example of how ridiculous player salaries are in baseball. You can really, really suck at your job and still get $1 million a year just because that's the going rate for your level of suckitude and experience.MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Who do you all suppose will get the nod to be the opening day starter? Of course it will be between Cueto,Latos, or Homer.
I kind of figured with how well Latos pitched he would probably get the nod over Cueto this season, but Cueto has been stellar in his 2 opening day starts for us.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

looks like Arroyo is officially a D-back. Sad to see him go from a fan of his view, but from a business view it was probably for the best with the arms we have.
I wish Bronson all the best unless he is playing against us that isEveryone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
Considering the contract the Dbacks gave him....more power to him. Hope he continues slinging those frisbees up there that baffle hitters.
Except when he pitches against the Reds...then I want Badrroyo to show up.
Joey Votto was on Lance McAllister's show the other night and I love this quote....
“This past season people were disappointed in my season for the one number – RBI – and equated that with a passive approach and a down year relative to years past. But the year before, I was on pace to have a really great season, but still on pace just for 90 RBI. But 2012 was my best season, by far. Fantastic pace. Didn’t focus on RBI unless it was a big situation or late in the game. Not constantly locked into walking and driving doubles. For the most part I’m trying to be 2012 Joey. Couldn’t replicate that in 2013. Knee wasn’t 100%.”
I'm expecting a return to form for Joey. Before the injury in 2012, he was on his way to another MVP award.Comment

Joey Votto has been on there a couple times lately and he has been fantastic. You can tell how smart he really is and how he focuses on the game. IIRC he said his favorite stat was WRC+.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

RBI's are a product of your teammates getting on base, you cant manufacture your own RBI's unless your hitting a HR often to give yourself a RBI
Sure Votto wasnt at his best last season offensively and especially defensively where he was just awful, he knows that and I look for him to come back strong this year on both accounts. I do think there were times last year where he wasnt as aggressive as he had been in the past in hitters counts and with RISP, and I think we will see him get back to his usual self this coming season.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
I heard that interview with Votto, and it was a great one. IMO some are putting to much into Votto's RBI #'s. While Choo got on base a lot, the 2 hole alot of times especially with Cozart there was killing any chance for Votto to drive in runs, and then you had the incompetent baserunning of Choo on top of that.
