    Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread

Offense continues to be sluggish (and Cozart is 0-2014), but hats off to Alfredo Simon. We needed a start like that, and it showed great foresight by the staff to prepare him like a starter this spring in case Latos wouldn't be ready to go.

And Votto gets an RBI from a sac fly. I'm sure Marty was beaming.

Mesoraco will be in the lineup tomorrow against the Cardinals. Broxton will be activated Tuesday.

I'm love Sammy too. More outings like yesterday from Hoover and I'll probably jump off his bandwagon. I'm still rooting for the kid at this point. This is his opportunity. I don't want to see him blow it.

Meanwhile today Price leaves Parra in to pitch two innings to get the save. Smart move.

at this point why isnt Cozart and his 0-20 in the two hole, if Price insists on bunting Hamilton around the bases?

Hey Cozart got a hit and an RBI today. You can't waste his at bats from this point forward. In all seriousness, I agree. Why bunt with Billy on base? Totally unnecessary. Hit-and-run though? Go for it.

nope just managing a game like every other manger has done not unheard of. Again this team/talent just isnt as good as everyone makes them out to be. Heard how bad Jacoby was as hitting coach he's gone and this team still cant hit lmao

                      Re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread

From the post game comments, it sounded like Phillips decided to lay down the bunt on his own. Price didn't instruct Phillips to bunt, just simply to move the runner over (grounder to the right side...deep fly ball to right....hit...HR...etc).

Trevor Bell put on the DL today with inflammation of his ERA (I mean elbow). Broxton activated from the DL.

Latos was scratched from his scheduled rehab start today due to elbow irritation. What are the odds that he ends up getting Tommy John? You never can tell with the Reds medical staff when it comes to diagnosis (see Nick Masset, Sean Marshall, Joey Votto, etc. etc. etc.)

Billy Hamilton has no business hitting leadoff till he can prove he can get on base against major league pitching. Shake up the lineup please.

That was some of the funniest stuff I've seen. Who knew Joey had a sense of humor like that.

And Jay Bruce probably hit the shortest sacrifice fly I have ever seen in my life. If Billy Hamilton can get on base at a .310-.320 clip, he's going to be a game changer just like he proved today. He did it all.

Not a big Reds fan but today Hammy was ELECTRIC. Watching the highlights on MLB Tonight was so fun I was laughing. I hope he can get on base frequently because if so, the Reds are going to must-watch TV for me.
