re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
Dusty Baker is killing this team.
He can't manage a bullpen. 8 of the past 11 losses are on the bullpen. The fact that he refused to put Chapman in for a four out save was bad enough. But then later on, he put in a "sore" Broxton before Chapman?!?!?!
After our meltdown in the NLDS last year, I was hoping for a change. This team will never win anything as long as Dusty Baker is the manager.
And it pains me to say that because we have the talent to do it.Last edited by jasontoddwhitt; 06-14-2013, 02:02 AM.Comment

I'm usually a supporter of Dusty. I try to stand behind the Reds and their coaching staff, but I agree with Jason. I feel like the best we will ever be with Dusty is "pretty good".
But you never know, we could get rid of Dusty and get someone way worse...

I think he could use Chapman for more than one inning though.Comment

Is it just me or are more games going past the full 9 this year?
Glad we got a W after the 14 inning letdown versus Chicago but man, the extra work is gonna catch up eventually.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills

The next four weeks will determine our season I think. Reds play 16 straight games against teams with winning records. Then play the Mariners and Brewers before heading to Atlanta before the All Star break.
In the same stretch, the Cardinals only play six games against teams with winning records.Comment

What is everybody's opinion on keeping Cingrani on the major league roster but in the bullpen? At first I was against it. I thought it might screw him up because he's a starter. But the more I thought about it, maybe it'll work out for the best. They could use his arm in the bullpen. Plus it limits his innings which might come in handy should they need a starter in two or three months. Not quite the same way the Braves handled Medlen but similar. I'm not sure how long he'll be in the bullpen and if that's what they really have in mind but we shall see.MLB: Cincinnati Reds
NFL: Cincinnati Bengals
NCAA Hoops: Xavier Musketeers
NCAA Football: Miami Hurricanes
NHL: Calgary Flames

This is, in all likelihood, the Reds only season with Shin-Soo Choo and the time is NOW to make a serious run at a pennant. This is an all hands on deck situation.Comment

I agree with you. Like I said, my knee jerk reaction was it wasn't a good idea. But after thinking about it more, they really do need him in the bullpen right now. He was great last night. They also could use more starts from Leake like last night as well.MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Leake has been in beast mode nearly all season! One would assume eventually he'll come down to his normal 4.5ish ERA or whatever it is but one can certainly hope he can keep it up for the remainder.Comment

re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
I really doubt his season ERA will get that high. A 3.9 over the rest of the season is more reasonable, that would still leave him at around a 3.0 for the entire season.NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)

It's looking highly likely the Reds will face either the Pirates or Cardinals in a one game wild card playoff. Probably the Pirates so perhaps Cueto v Jeff Locke for a chance to play St. Louis.
This, of course, assuming San Francisco, Washington, and/or Colorado don't flip the switch in the second half.Comment
