Small sample size... He's okay, though. Stanton would be a massive upgrade. Honestly, if Chapman is going to be a reliever for the rest of his time in Cincinnati, then the Reds better deal him for Stanton.NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)

Stanton slugs .538 on his career with an OBP of .350 (much better than Ludwick & Heisey). So obviously Stanton would be a huge upgrade, and if for some reason Walt Jocketty asked my opinion I would be on board, but I honestly think that's a pipe dream that we can get him.Comment

Think its possible to plug Michael Young into LF? He lacks power but hit .347 OBP would rank only behind Votto & Choo on this teamComment

re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
Yeah its a small sample size and indeed I'm sure he will come back down to earth but in July (29 ABs) he is hitting .345 and slugging .759. Also on the season (112 ABs) hes slugging .429 behind only Bruce, Votto, and Choo on the team. Just some food for thought.

I think that OBP is an overperformance. He's been a defensive liability in the infield for years, but I don't know about the outfield. If he has problems with his legs as SlimKibbles said then I'd avoid him. Old, injury-prone players in the outfield rarely works out. They need to be at first base or DH.NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)

Wow, slew of runs through the past game and a half. I truly do believe this team will get better over the second half of the season.

Well the thing about Stanton is he's only scratched the surface of his potential. Great walk rate, plus plus power. He will hit 50 home runs in a season by the time his career is over and will probably have several 40 home run seasons. He's been an above average defender as well.Comment

re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
Sorry to kind of take over the thread but I found something interesting while looking at some stats and decided to beat the deceased Zach Cozart horse a little more
- hitting 2nd: 261 ABs .257 avg .284 OBP
- hitting 7th: 92 ABs .217 avg .250 OBP
Curious how the numbers jump off a cliff there making him even more useless hitting lower in the order.
I distinctly remember the feeling last season in the NLDS while experiencing the absolute worst two games I've ever seen at GABP... That after the 4 spot the lineup was a total black hole for hitting. Its starting to feel more and more like that this season.Comment

I'll be impressed if the Reds can keep Choo. Also, between arbitration Stanton and free agent Choo I would take Stanton every single time. I doubt the Reds get Stanton, though.NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)

ESPN leads off The 11 pm SC with Puig's walk-off today concentrating on his "walk-off style." 1) I'm sick of ESPN's love-fest with Puig and 2) I really hope a Reds pitcher drills that kid when the Dodgers come to town in September after that crap today.MLB: Cincinnati Reds

re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread
Also, can you even imagine if a guy acted like that with Dusty as his manager!?
Edit: Final point I swear: ESPN sucks... Especially Sports Center which doesn't even really report scores or show highlights like they used to. Unfortunately there isn't much to replace it with but i would recommend "The Lights" on NBC sports network if you get that. No analysis, just highlights. Hopefully Fox Sports 1 will provide a decent highlight show.Last edited by Son of Sam99; 07-29-2013, 08:39 AM.Comment
