Nats are on a roll...deal me in as...let's say... cautiously optimistic.

Like Mo, I'm cautiously optimistic. Hard not to think of that Milwaukee series in '99 that cost them a locked in playoff spot when thinking about Pittsburgh this weekend. What they have going for them though is they finish the season next week with all home games. Need to take at least 4 of 6 from Bucs and hope any wins over the Mets will coincide with any Bucs or Cards losses.

Amazing how two on, no out, and a pitcher throwing 8 straight balls turns into a wasted scoring opportunity.

Even if the Reds manage to win this game, when Chris Welsh is questioning your managerial decisions....something is up.

Garbage, absolutely garbage managing by Dusty Baker. Votto swinging at the first pitch when you have Hamilton running was awful as well.

Having Phillips lay down a bunt when he hasn't thrown a strike is idiotic. I didn't say anything about Votto swinging at the first pitch being Dusty's fault. Nice try though.

It's amazing that they know Billy Hamilton's M.O. And he steals 4 bases anyway.

Is he that fast? Is he that skilled? Is he that well versed on the pitchers movements?

There's been fast players, is it possible he's really on a tier all by himself in that regard?

                      It's just crazy to me.

Nice little article on him: http://www.baseballamerica.com/major...illy-hamilton/

Little thing there that stands out to me from the article

Yes, the scout said that Hamilton is faster going from first to second than the all-time stolen base champ.

I thought it was interesting how Jim Kelch and Chris Welsh pointed out that Billy would shake his right leg a little bit whenever he was stealing, at least they said that early in the game. I didn't watch the whole game so I don't know if he consistently did that. But if he did, he might want to think of correcting that tell. That all said, he still stole 4 bases.

I have a strange feeling that Hamilton is going to mean more to this team than anyone during the playoffs (assuming they add him and assuming they make it). He is game changer, even in a limited role.

The attention he is bringing to the team added to his ability to stress the opponent manager, pitcher and catcher plus getting Cueto and Mashall back has seemed to re-energize the team (even if the IQ level isn't always the highest). Has me cautiously optimistic about our potential playoff success.

He did on one steal attempt, but I didn't see him make the same gesture on his other ones.

Maybe he knows, and he's consciously wiggling and waggling to throw off the pitchers. Making it random.

Or they just haven't caught on yet.
