    Where to begin?

    - 8th inning, game tied 3-3, runners at the corners with two outs. With a left-hander coming to the plate, Dusty decided to bring in a LH reliever. Sounds like a great situation for Aroldis Chapman, right?

Not in Dusty's world, he brings in Zach Duke. Now bless his little stars he got the strikeout. But still, tied game, middle of a pennant race, against your division rival, does it make sense to bring in a guy who was pitching in AAA last week??? Why not use Chapman???????

    - 14th inning, Ryan Ludwick leads off with a single. Billy Hamilton brought on to pinch run. Have no problems so far with Dusty's thinking.

But then you ask Zach Cozart to try and lay down a bunt? WHY!?!?! Thankfully, Hamilton steals second on a botched hit and run and then Cozart singles in the tie. Still though, Hamilton is one of the fastest guys in professional baseball. It's moronic to bunt with him standing on first base.

    - Then he asks Devin Mesoraco to sacrifice Cozart to second. Mesoraco, who has more walk off hits than sacrifice bunts, failed to bunt Cozart to second.

    - Brandon Phillips collected his 100th RBI tonight. Dusty had him bunting in the 15th inning. I wonder if Dusty would ask Joey Votto to lay one down?

    - And WTF was Chris Heisey thinking trying to lay down a bunt with the WINNING RUN ON THIRD BASE WITH TWO OUTS in the 15th??? Has Dusty ingrained in these guys that bunting is the greatest offensive weapon in baseball?

    - And I love Joey Votto, but he's been in a slump that makes Corey Patterson seem like a legit Major League baseball player. Between boneheaded plays in the field, boneheaded base running blunders, looking at strike 3 all night long, and hitting .210 over the past month, he's not looking like the MVP I know and love.
That was seriously terrible. Shouldn't a manager be trying to put his players in the best possible position to succeed? Just awful

Dusty Baker still thinks he's managing the Cubs.

Where is Lou Piniella at? I'm sure he could do a better job of managing the Reds.

Including tonight so far Votto has 125 K's. His record for most K's in a season is 129. He is going to shatter it.

As for Dusty, that's Dusty. Players LOVE playing for him and that says something. Unfortunately it doesn't say "great Manager." The biggest problem that I can see is that Dusty is just too nice to the players. How many times since Dusty has been Managing the Reds have you seen a player suspended or punished in some fashion? I can't remember any. How many times have you seen Phillips not run a hit ball out or watch his home run for it to only be a single? What about overall base running issues, time and time again?

The Reds need a hard as* Manager. Someone that isn't there to be their friend but is there to make sure they know the fundamentals of baseball (unbelievable that at the MLB level this is still needed but I digress). They need someone to sit a star player for thinking and acting like he is too good to do said fundamentals. I want to see the players RUN to first on every single ball that is hit into play. I want to see anything other than an absolute no doubter not be watched from home plate by the hitter. I want to see them sprinting to first in case it falls short of the fence and can get a double or better.

The IQ on this team is one of the worst I can recall. Funny thing is I say that almost every year. Why? Because the players LOVE playing for Dusty because Dusty never punishes a multi-millionaire for fear of them not liking him. Screw that. Give me a guy like Mattingly. Or Gibson. Get a new hitting coach. Tell Votto to stop analyzing every single aspect of the game and just "see the ball, hit the ball."

            That's just my take anyway.

I didn't say I wanted Mattingly (although I think he is definitely better suited for the Reds than Dusty), I said a guy like Mattingly or Gibson. This team lacks discipline and always has since Dusty has been there. That falls squarely on his shoulders.

I wish I knew. Whoever it could be, I'm sure the Reds couldn't afford him.

I am curious why you seem to be mocking my posts though? Do you think the Reds are fine with a manager that is their friend and not their boss? Are you happy with the countless fundamental breakdowns without so much as a peep for discipline? Do you think that Dusty is a great manager and we should be happy to have him?

Instead of mocking or laughing at my posts, tell me how I am wrong.

BTW, I only used Mattingly and Gibson as an example of the "type" of manager I think the Reds could use. They first popped into my head so I mentioned them. Bottom line, to me, is that the Reds need a hard nosed manager that will get in some of these guy's grill for being stupid over and over.

                          Different strokes for different folks.....

But don't get me started on how bad of a game manager Dusty Baker is. Dusty is the guy who can get you there....but he's not the one to get you over the hump. That's why he was ridiculed in San Fran and in Chicago. It's why he is ridiculed in Cincy

We've come back because of Dusty Baker?

He's a factor, but I think players like Votto, Cueto, Bailey, and Bruce developing have the biggest impact on why we've come back. Just an overall emphasis on developing the farm system in general.

You say you could manage the Dodgers to success. I think the same could be said of our team. For a team that has been as successful as the Reds the past 4 seasons now, I've never seen so many people dislike the manager. PhantomPain was spot on; Dusty can get us there, but I don't think he can take this club all the way. When the microscope is on him in the playoffs (if we're to make a run), he is going to be exposed nationally.

It's hard to fire a successful manager, but just as players need a change of scenery, this team may need a new voice. Maybe light a fire under their butt.

It appears this team wins a lot of games off raw talent. If we had the little extra grit or attention to detail that some clubs do, I think we could be a few wins better. That could be the difference in a 5 or 7 game playoff series.

I hope they can put it all together. The pieces are there. This team should have expectations of a World Series. They just have to make it happen. That's all there is to it.
