Third time the bullpen has blown the save on Latos. Shame too as well as he has pitched.

And if Chapman blows a few more leads, perhaps he'll be demoted to the starting rotation?

Does everyone here agree with his move to bring Chapman on with the tying run on 3rd? I think I would have let Latos try to finish the inning and basically conceded that run considering you're on the road and will likely need a save to win the game anyway. The odds of a run scoring from 3rd with only one out has got to be super high already. He also could have intentionally walked the next guy and try for a DP.

I know Herm Edwards would yell at me; "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!" and I respect that considering Dusty has struggled with that philosophy in the past. Had Latos stayed and given up another triple as Chapman did, I guess I would probably go to the pen at that point.

Anyway curious what everyone else thinks

I bash Dusty a lot for his puzzling moves. That wasn't one of them.

I see the argument for both sides. I personally didn't have a problem with him bringing Chapman in at that time. It ended up not working out for the Reds...but it wasn't necessarily a wrong move.

Now if he would get Zach Cozart out of the damn 2 hole in the lineup.

Votto should be hitting in the two spot. How many times Cozart made the final out in an inning with a runner on? It seems to happen every single game.

I think the combination of Lutz/Paul/Robinson should hit second.

Once again, Cozart makes the final out with a man on base. SMH

I agree with moving Votto to bat second. Cozart should be nowhere near the top of the lineup

I haven't been on here for a while. I just want to say, I love having Shin-Soo Choo on this team. He's awesome.

Maybe Chapman will learn you can't just throw right down the middle and get guys out? Especially when he isn't throwing 102..

                          Batting Cesar Izturis second?

Shin-Soo Choo is second in the National League (to Joey Votto) with a .455 on-base percentage and leads the league in offensive WAR at 2.5. (Photo by Anthony Gruppso/USA Today Sports)

There are plenty of fans who would love to see Shin-Soo Choo sign an extension to stay with the Reds today — Walt Jocketty would probably be open to the idea as well. Problem is, Choo’s agent, Scott Boras is not.

The New York Times’ Tyler Kepner talked to Boras and Choo about his future — and it doesn’t sound like Choo will do anything without exploring free agency.

                            From the Times:

“I sit down with players and say, ‘Look, these are your options,’ ” Scott Boras, Choo’s agent, said Monday. “I kept telling Choo: ‘You’re special. You’re not going to be good every year; that’s not how the game works. But the reality is you’re special. Be patient, accumulate your record, and these are your choices.’ ”

The Indians approached Choo about a long-term deal and he’s not thinking about it now, he said. From the same Times article:

“A lot of people ask me: ‘Do you want to stay in Cincinnati? What do you want?’ ” Choo said. “That’s too far away. We’re not at the end of the season; we’re not at the end of the first half yet. I know why I’m here. Cincinnati gave up two good players, and they want to win a World Series. That’s what I want, too. I’ve never played in the playoffs. I have a good opportunity to play with a good team.”

Choo will likely be the top free agent available — especially if he continues to play like he has so far this season. And Boras is already thinking — and talking — big:

“The amazing thing about his career is that he’s been hidden,” Boras said. “Even in an off-year, his on-base percentage is .350. He’s got a career .386 on-base percentage and an O.P.S. that’s .856. Go around the league and find an outfielder who has, essentially, 15-homer power and an .850 O.P.S. Couple that with a .290 average — that’s rare air.”

Don't you have a hole to crawl in to, Boras?

If Choo is smart he'll stick with the Reds. Not every player gets to play with as feared a hitter as Votto. Part of Choo's success is due to having that presence behind him.
