Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
I think we got an incredible haul. Miller and Speier for 3 player. Ender Inciarte went .303/.338/.408 last year. Not amazing, but he's supposed to be an elite defender at all 3 Outfield spots and is only 25. 5.3 WAR last year, higher than any Brave. Aaron Blair had been mentioned before, top 40 prospect, I've seen mid rotation guy on scouting reports.
And then Swanson. Shortstop, 1st overall pick, hit .289/.394/.482 in low A. Mlb.com has him as the #10 overall. I've seen prototypical #2 hitter, 15 hr power, solid, and maybe even above average defense at Shortstop. Also, he went to high school in Marietta. I think we clearly won this trade. I'd rather have Swanson than Pollock, and then to get 2 other good players too is fantastic.
Also signed Tyler Flowers for for 2 yr/$5.3m.

Dude, you can't possibly be upset by this trade, can you? Even ignoring the prospects, one of which gets occasional Derek Jeter comparisons, though that's probably a bit much, we got a CF that was as good or better than Miller in 2015. Unlike the Simmons trade, this trade may actually make us better in the short term. At worst, it's probably a wash.

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
After the last couple trades that didn't really seem to fit the "plan" I'm very happy with this one. We got a young bat who hit 300 last, plays good defense, and stole 20 bases. Then 2 really good prospects to go along with it, I think this is a win even though I hate seeing miller go.
I do wonder what this means for males smith and Abies now though. Do they keep malex and go for a very speedy top of the lineup or try to package him? Do you move Swanson to 2nd and bring up Albies (when ready), or does one of them become expendable

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
On a side note! The Upper management are saying they are building this team around Freddie Freeman. Can #5. be our #10 of the past? Freddie can hit his butt off, but he doesn't strike any fear in anyone. Maybe in next couple of years they will develop hitters in front of him and behind him, so we can really appreciate him.Comment

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
I'm happy with the Miller trade. I would like the Braves to actually hold onto MLB talent that is under control, like Miller and Simmons, but only having Miller for one year I didn't really get attached to him. At some point I want the Braves to stick with some good controlled players. Other than Freeman and Teheran there isn't anyone left of our Braves, so hopefully from this point forward we can start getting attached to new, seemingly long-term players, without worrying about losing them. That was my biggest issue in terms of fandom last year and going into this year, it's hard to cheer for a team full of short termers.
