Who cares. They'll probably just trade him too.

      The apathy made me laugh.

...but yeah, probably will be true.

FWIW, Mark Bradley's (AJC columnist) thoughts on potential trades:

Here’s my rating of the likelihood of that happening: Maybin’s a “maybe,” having had something approaching a career year; Teheran’s a “possible but not probable”; Markakis is a “probably not,”seeing as how the Braves like — and I mean really, really like — what he’s giving them on the field and in the clubhouse, and Freeman is a “no chance” unless the return is Mike Trout.

          Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves

I understand shopping Freeman (as I mentioned before), but I just don't see a trade making sense right now. Freeman, when healthy, is a top 10 1B, and with his injuries trading him now would be selling low.

BTW, I know there is "the sky is falling" going on with the fan base, but this team is better today than when the season ended. A lineup of this:

          Markakis, RF (healthier)
          Maybin/Smith/Bourn, CF
          Olivera/Swisher, LF
          Garcia, 3B
          Aybar, SS
          Peterson/Castro, 2B
          Freeman, 1B
          AJ, C

          A bullpen of this:

          Vizcaino
          Rodriguez
          Withrow
          Winkler
          Grilli (back at some point)
          Folty?

          And rotation:

          Miller
          Teheran
          Wisler
          Banuelos
          Minor/Folty/someone else?

All of that is a solid foundation and won't win any titles, but is better than what we saw this year.

Bottom line...I don't see Freeman going anywhere and the awfulness of our team is exaggerated.

Here in Atlanta on the home of the Braves. A sports talk host thinks the Braves are up for sale. Clearing the books for the new ownership. It makes sense. The smaller the assets on the books the better, but who is it buying the team...

If Liberty Media sells the team, then this is all worth it.

Uh, no it isn't. They just announced plans to make the team public. First half of next year you'll be able to buy Atlanta Braves stock!

                  Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves

I still stand by my initial reaction. I think this was a good move, for many of the reasons a lot of folks already brought up. Now if we can't trade Aybar at the deadline as I assumed then Simmons for the 2 minor leaguers probably wasn't worth it, but assuming we can move Aybar for a prospect bat I'm more then happy with this move.

Anybody who felt this team was going to be decent the next few years just flat out wasn't being honest with themselves of what to expect in this rebuild.

Quote by the GM to USA Today:
“I cannot make it any more clear: We are not trading Freddie Freeman,”*Coppolella said.*“We are not. I’d give my right arm before we trade Freddie Freeman. It is not happening.”

Given that kind of definitive statement, I'd say Freddie is staying put. Also, we apparently had talks with Arizona about Miller, but they balked at the price, which apparently cane from their major league roster; possibly Pollock (that'd be awesome; too bad).

Yeah, I posted the article in the hot stove thread.

Yeah I have heard rumors they have been trying to sell, but nothing official. With the stock being available, I didn't think there was going to be any chance they sell. I would love to be wrong and get a real owner instead of a group that just gives them a budget.

John Coppolella has been put under a lot of fire the past few days. Has there been a bit of an overreaction to his rebuild strategy?

Coppolella also said that he loved Simmons and his character. Simmons traded! I am not getting use to anyone. My Braves love is on hold...
