We've had a black hole defensively in left field for year. Byrd is a below average defensive outfielder. At GABP, honestly you don't need a great defender out there and having Hamilton in CF helps a ton because of the ground he covers.

Definitely understandable, as over the years 1st and 3rd have been where catchers have typically been moved too. Bench played both 3rd and 1st later on in his career.

With Frazier being a GG caliber 3rd baseman it wouldn't be worth moving him and while Mez is a big boy, he does move fairly well, so he should be able to handle LF with some practice, and I have heard he has been taking balls out there too.

1st base would be another position Mez could learn as its the easiest position for a major leaguer to learn anyway, so he could possibly give Votto a break every now and then.

Glad we finally got a win, although you wouldn't have thought we should have had as difficult a time with a scrub pitcher like Rusin as we did, but atleast we came out on top. It unbelievable how bad we are at hitting with RISP, we haven't been good at it for a few years now, but this year its magnified more so with pitching being so rocky from starters to the pen.

        Re: 2015 Cincinnati Reds

Well hopefully the closed door team meeting Price had after losing 9 in a row and 10 of 11 had a impact. While we didn't look great offensively tonight, we were able to get timely clutch hits along with a solid pitching performance by Disco to get a win, and the pen didn't blow the game.

I thought players body language seem to be better, but anytime you lose that many in a row players will seem unenergetic. I also think Price has been doing a better job managing the pen, as that's really oddly enough where he was making some questionable decisions, but personally I think he is now not showing as much patience with relievers.

I like Price and he actually does a solid job making out the lineup order, and don't sit on his hands like Dusty did, by going with the same batting order time after time, so he is trying to get the offense going. As a manager that's about all you can do to try and find the right mix to get some offense. So I do hope things turn around not only for the team, but also Price himself as I would like to see him be have success as a manager, and I do think he is learning to handle the pen better even with the wins being of few here lately, but that's been on the players with poor pitching and poor hitting, not on bad decisions by the manager.

Joey lost his wallet (according to Hal McCoy) and his swing went south at the same time. He found his wallet a few days ago, and suddenly he hits two homers in two games.

          Coincidence? lol

Never really thought he was hurt. He was moving well out in the field. His defense at 1B has improved tons compared to the last two seasons (much more in line with his Gold Glove year). He just wasn't squaring up well. Two days, two opposite field homers...yeah, he's fine.

Yeah I never felt Votto was injured, he is moving as well as I have ever seen him move. For anyone who has lost their wallet in can play affect you mentally, and Im sure especially when you have a green card and aren't a citizen here. Glad he found his wallet along with his swing, as we sure have needed it.

Seems like the closed door meeting Price had has made a impact on their play, hope it continues. We have to many guys that are capable hitters in our lineup to be having the problems we have had, especially now that this yr the guy who had been the worst hitter in the everyday lineups has been having a good season with Cozart. I really hope Cozart makes the AS game, because he has derserved it with his play this yr. I would think both Frazier and Cozart should make it, and possibly Votto, but been some good play out of several 1st baseman this yr that Votto might get left out with Agone,Goldy, and unfortunately Rizzo playing well. Im sure Chapman is in, and if Cueto is healthy and gets back soon he might get the nod to start from Bochy since its in Cincinnati.

3 game winning streak, lol, whatever Price said in that meeting has seemingly woke these guys up. Never would have thought we would have swept the Nats, I would have been happy with just winning the series, so sweeping was just icing on the cake, especially when you do it to 1 of the best teams in baseball.

Guys just look to have better body language, like they did at the start of the season, where if they got down they didn't feel it was game over. Now we just need to take this with us against teams we should win series against. Were definitely not as bad as we looked in that losing streak we just went thru.

Well, at least we don't have to worry about Marlon Byrd's option vesting now.

Thank you karma from saving us from the combined stupidity of Price/Uncle Walt.

Hold your horses, there's plenty of time to **** this up!

I had considered going to the CIN/PHI games, but these guys are too depressing.

No actually the date snuck up on me. Had a promo for 20% off tickets which are probably dirt cheap since the Phillies bandwagon has cleared. Bunch of posers.

Bad teams find creative ways to lose games. This is a bad team.

That sweep of the Nationals was a fluke.

Offensively we are looking better since Price bump Billy down to 9th. So if Walt can find a way to fix the pitching we still have a shot at the postseason imo. Mainly the bullpen is what has killed us this season, with even Chapman not looking great lately, kind of makes me wonder if Chappy isn't worrying some about being traded. Starting pitching hasn't been as good as it has been in the past, but its still descent and if the pen could get straighten out we should be OK.

Not sure at this time how to fix the pen though, as we don't have much in way of prospects to trade, and definitely don't want to trade the few that we have in the minors at this time, and we don't have enough of them anyway to trade away to fix all that we need fixing.

Sadly I think we will have to hope either the guys in the pen start doing better, or have someone that can be called up that can get the job done. If we cant get back into this by AS break, then I think the smart thing to do would be trade away some guys and try to improve the farm system, and possibly get back some guys that are real close to the bigs, as soon as next season.

If don't have a great shot at making the postseason after AS break, then Cueto for sure has to be traded, and if they don't plan on keeping Leake then he needs moved to. Any others that they may be considering moving like say Chapman, they need to make dam sure they get a boat load back for, or I don't trade him. Obviously Cueto basically has to be moved, and he should bring back some talent, probably more so than what we would get with a comp pick in next yrs draft. Cards did get Wacha with the comp pick they got from Pujols, but that was just 1 player all bet a very good one, where you trade Cueto this yr then you should get a couple very good prospects from that move.

No we don't and we shouldn't be aiming for the postseason. Trade these guys now, you will get more then in a month. Aim for contention again in 2017.

Nope, doesn't appear to be hurt. Thankfully. But when someone that usually has good power loses it for an extended period of time, the natural thought is an issue with health. Especially with someone like Votto that has had so many issues with his knee. But glad he seems fine.

Cozart went down today. Didn't look good on the replay I saw. Hopefully it isn't an ACL tear or anything.
