Well considering back in I think it was 13 when they hit Brandon he ended up having his hand or wrist cause of them injured and he wasn't the same the restof the season, I would say they would deserve to lose a player because of their actions. Not saying throw at anyones head, because even a soft tosser can do serious damage doing things like that, but I sure would make a statement that if you want to play that way, we will win the war since we have the hardest thrower in history on our side.

Pirates and Hurdle need to be put in their place with all this throwing at other players all the time. Its getting ridiculous that anytime a pitch gets away and hits 1 of their guys that they feel it was done on purpose, they been like this since Clint Hurdle took over as manager. Im all for getting even, if you feel it was done on purpose, but not every hit batter is done on purpose like that idiot Hurdle seems to think. Its not like were the only team that they have this issue with.

My hate for the Pirates and their neanderthal fans is starting to eclipse my hatred of the Cardinals.

Anytime they nearly earhole somebody, it's an accident. But if Cutch gets hit (even if it was CLEARLY a breaking ball that slipped out), it was on purpose and we must retaliate.

It was the Pirates that broke BPs wrist a couple years ago on one of those retaliations and he's not been the same since. He had every right to be ticked. As did Byrd, who suffered facial fractions when he got hit in the face a few years back. Whoever had the job of keeping a hold of Marlon Byrd, give that man a medal because if Byrd had gotten loose, it would've turned into a Pier 6 brawl (which, inspired by Bob Uecker, "It's about time, we're 19 games back.")

      "We're too busy winning."

Winning what exactly Cutch? Division titles? Nope.....

I'll never hate any team as much as I do the North Side ghetto trash Cubs, but the Pirates are probably the closest out of any other team. I was a kid back in the 70's so I have always had a strong dislike for the Pirates, ad we had some battles over the years with them back then, as well as some even in the 80's and 90's. Outside of the Cubs, it was Dodgers and Pirates next on that list of hated teams

I doubt there is too many in baseball that would have the guts to get into a ring or octagon with Byrd, and I can guarantee there isn't any Pirate player man enough too. Id say the same would go for Chapman, as I don't think anyone would want to tangle with him given the choice

I don't know if they were actually throwing at Byrd in Saturdays, game, but I remember watching the game when he got hit in the face back when he was with the Cubs, and its was nasty, and it him a few years after that to get back to being a solid hitter. Pirates also ruined BP 2013 season by hitting him on purpose, and ended up having to have surgery in the off season cause of it. It seems BP is the 1 they always hit, so no wonder he was sick of it, and not happy.

Hurdle is a prick, and a crybaby just like Larussa was back when he was a manager, only difference between the 2 is Larussa could actually win WS championships, Hurdle cant, lol.

Dombrowski is out in Detroit. Any chance, outside of my dreams, of Junketty retiring or being fired? Dom would seem like a massive upgrade to me. Of course, nearly anyone would seem like a massive upgrade to me lol.

I was wondering about this too when I heard that he was out. I do wonder just how well Dombroski would do with a tight budget, as he had plenty of money in Detroit to work with, where as here you have to be resourceful with what you have financially, and in all honesty that is something Walt has been known to be good at, is figuring out ways to make things work within a budget.
I have soured some on Walt, mainly because of not blocking that trade in 13 with Byrd going to the Pirates when we could have used him, them saying this year that he had always wanted Byrd. But Walt does have some good qualities as a GM, or he wouldn't have lasted as long as he has in the league.

Im guessing Walt's job is safe, and if we finish the year strong and Price has shown some improvement as manager Id say he is probably safe going into the last yr of his contract. Id say Walt anyway has a better chance of staying on as GM that Price does as manager, but if I were a betting man Id say as long as we finish strong everyone will be safe, and since AS break we have been playing better, especially offensively.

Not that Im opposed to changing both GM and manager, but just a gut feeling that as long as were playing hard to finish out the season there wont be any changes made within management.

Reds suddenly playing good ball after trading Cueto and Leake. They were obviously clubhouse cancers that were holding us back.

You are joking right Don't know about Leake, but Cueto was very popular and well liked by all.

I always felt Towers was a good judge of talent. I think we have a very good scouting director in Chris Buckley, and I think we have solid scouts in the organization, and I'd say they probably have a lot to do with the talent we got back in those trades. They probably deserve a lot of the credit in those moves, as I think Walt puts a lot of faith in those guys judgement, as Walts best asset is dealing with contracts and how to make things work within a budget, not neccesarily with having agreat eye for talent.

                      Re: 2015 Cincinnati Reds

Been thinking about this lately. Can anyone explain to me why A) the Reds have never brought Ted Power up as a pitching coach and B) why other teams haven't gotten him yet since the Reds haven't brought him up?

I ask because it seems like he does a great job down there. Then they come to the majors and don't do as well, get sent back down and he generally gets them back on track again.

I thought maybe he didn't want to work in the majors, since it would seem he should have had a shot by now, but then I saw an article from 2013 where he said he would love a shot at MLB.

                      Any ideas?

I have often wondered this as well. Powers has been very important for this organization, and I always just figured he was happy doing what he does, since he hasn't been brought up the Reds, or been offered jobs by other MLB teams. Sounds like he would like a shot at the majors, so its somewhat a surprise that he wasn't added as pitching coach when Price took over as manager.

Maybe when or if they make a change at manager, that Powers gets his shot. Tom Brown, and Tom Browning have also had positives impacts helping young pitchers in our farm system.

I think we have a solid group of pitching instructors thruout the organization, but Im not as big on our hitting instructors thruout the organization, although I do think Don Long has had a positive impact for us since he took over, even if our offense hasn't improved a great deal, I do think there have been small improvements to what Jacoby was teaching, never did like Jacoby personally.

That wasmy thinking as well. Personally I don't think as a whole pitching coaches make very good managers, and this is coming from a former pitcher, lol. Not so much tey don't know the game, but I don't think position players have the respect of former pitcher trying ot manage them as they do position players, especially when it comes to former catchers. Personally I think Corky Miller would make a good manager if he chooses to go that route, Im sure hewo uld make a excellent pitching coach.

Oddly enough Price actually seems better at handling lineups and lineup orders than he does handling pitching decisions considering how good he was as a pitching coach. I do think he has improved, but Im not sold he is the right guy to continue to manage once the season is over. IM not so sure they shouldn't bring in a outsider to manage, rather than sticking in house.
