    Re: 2015 Cincinnati Reds

Votto has a full no trade clause and I highly doubt they'll try to move him anyways. His skillset is one that ages gracefully and as long as his knee issues are behind him, he'll be performing at a high level when this team is ready to compete again, provided Dick Williams doesn't eff up the rebuild.

Ken Rosenthal is reporting the Reds are a discussing a deal with the Dbacks to send Phillips to the desert for Aaron Hill....my reaction.....straight salary dump, plus I don't see Phillips waiving his 10-5 status to go to Arizona.

Unless a team wants to give up the farm AND take that contract on, then it's a different story. BP was good last year, but he should have been traded after he complained about Votto getting a big contract imo.

I think you would probably be surprised at the people who come out hoping to see Chapman pitch. Even in away ballparks its kind of crazy how those fans even react when he comes to the game, which was surprising the 1st time or 2 I saw it being there. I don't think that will have much bearing on them trading him, but my guess is if they don't get a extremely favorable deal for them, I can see them hold out and wait till around the trade deadline to move him. Obviously they have no choice but to move him at some point before FA, because with payroll being what it is, and being a small market they cant afford to keep him.

I highly doubt they would move Votto, but Im sure there willing to listen to offers, but I don't see them trading Votto, unless Votto would want to go elsewhere and not deal with a rebuild. I don't see Votto doing that, not just yet anyway.

I would be shocked if BP waived his no trade rights to go to Arizona, let alone Larussa being there. BP might waive it for a contending team where he would have a good chance to win at this stage of his career rather than go thru rebuild, but cant see that being Arizona.

Going to be a interesting winter that for sure for us Reds fans. Hard telling what the team might look like come opening day. Probably the only thing we can count on is not being very good unfortunately next season.

        Speaking of Chapman...

Aroldis Chapman could reportedly be traded by the end of the coming weekend. Read more at MLB Trade Rumors.

Boston would be a great trade partner. They have a lot of young bats.

Yeah, they have one of the better rated farm systems in baseball, plus they would have the money to sign him longterm as As I figure it will probably be a big market team that has the ability to possibly keep him that will end up trading for Chapman.

This is all true but they don't have a need for a closer anymore as they just acquired Kimbrel. TBH I would take either guy though.

Just saw this come across the screen of the TV while watching basketball, lol. Well there is 1 less team for us to do a deal, but you guys got came out OK with getting Kimbrel. Had hopes we could get a deal done with Boston with what they had in their famr system.

                  Re: 2015 Cincinnati Reds

Sox did good getting Kimbrel. They couldn't go wrong either way. That's one less suitor for the Reds.

The Yankees, Nationals, Tigers, and Blue Jays are rumored to be interested in him. The Astros and Diamondbacks also showed interest in him back at the trade deadline. I'm just glad the Reds are actively shopping him.

The Reds need an outfielder or two (depending on if we trade Bruce). We need a left fielder, and I don't think Jesse Winker will be ready till 2017. I would love for us to make a run at Dexter Fowler and stick him in left. Make him an offer of 4 years and $52 million. He gets on base, has a little bit of pop, and has good speed. Put him at the top of the order instead of Billy Hamilton (.346obp vs .274obp) and hit Votto second. That's a wet dream right there.

Normally, I would say not spend the money and go full rebuild, but there is one reason to make a run at a free agent who rejected a qualifying offer. Because our first draft pick is so high this year, it's protected and we can't lose it. So if we were to sign Fowler, the best pick the Cubs could get from us is a second rounder.

Definitely could use a leadoff hitter, really hope Billy takes the next step in 16. Since it sounds like they are in rebuild mode, I wont be surprised if Winker or Waldrop possibly both aren't on the 25 man roster, depending on if Bruce is trade of course. Fowler wouldn't be a bad fit, I actually wanted him a couple years back.

Winter meetings start tomorrow. Lots of Chapman to the Dodgers smoke and the Reds saying everybody is available, except for Votto, because he's already come out and said he won't waive his no trade clause.

Don't have any issue with any of this, as long as the haul is a good one.

We now know why it was taking so long for Reds closer Aroldis Chapman’s reported trade to the Dodgers to go through.

That’s because Chapman is now under investigation by Major League Baseball following an Oct. 30 incident in which Chapman’s girlfriend accused him of choking her and pushing her against a wall following an argument, per a police report obtained by Yahoo Sports. Chapman also admitted to firing eight shots from a handgun into the garage wall of his home in Miami.

Chapman’s attorney has denied the allegations. Police declined to make arrests “due to conflicting stories and a lack of cooperation from all parties involved,” per the report obtained by Yahoo. Four days after the alleged incident, Assistant State Attorney Marcie Zaccor declined to press charges against Chapman, citing insufficient evidence.

Reds President of Baseball Operations Walt Jocketty would not comment on the alleged incident, but did not rule out a potential deal with the Dodgers, adding a trade of Chapman could “take several weeks.”

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reported at 10:25 a.m. Monday morning that the Reds and Dodgers had agreed to a Chapman swap pending the review of medical documentation. Minutes later, Jon Heyman of CBS reported that shortstop Corey Seager, left-handed pitcher Julio Urias, and right-handed pitcher Jose De Leon, three of the Dodgers’ top prospects, would not be included in the deal.

At 3:06 p.m. Monday afternoon, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reported that the trade was not yet completed and that “multiple teams could be involved.”
The Boston Globe reported late Monday night that the Red Sox considered a possible trade for Chapman in November before turning their attention to Craig Kimbrel after a background check revealed Chapman’s alleged domestic dispute.

Looks like it might be a while before all this gets cleared up and they are able to trade Chapman. Hopefully nothing is seriously wrong with his hand, its bad enough we have a domestic violence case to deal with while trying to trade him, his hand is seriously hurt his value will really plummet.

If the Reds knew about it last month, aren't they responsible for telling the commissioner about the domestic violence? If so, is there any punishment they could enforce on the Reds if there is some rule that was broken? Regardless of that stuff, pretty shady of the Reds to not tell a trading team.
