I don't see Torreyes being anything more then a utility player, there's nothing that jumps out to you about him. He seems like the ultimate overachiever, I really like him, but there isn't anything there to suggest, this kid could start for 100+ games.

And then when you add in, the Yankees have Gregorious, Castro, and Torres, Mateo, and Wade waiting in the wings. Torreyes has a very limited future here in the Bronx.

      Worst loss of the season.

Six straight opening day losses for the Yankees, lol that's amazing.

Tanaka had nothing today at all as he looked sloppy from the start. It looked like Sanchez is starting to buy into the HR hype too as he had 2 chances to get a hit with multiple runners on base once with bases loaded and 1 out and once late in the game with 1st and 2nd 1 out and looked like he was swinging to hit the ball all the way to NY.

On another note it is crazy they have now lost 6 straight openers, hopefully a good bounce back game on Tuesday to even up the series

That Holliday double was glorious, that park is a mess.

There's an article in the Post about how we're setting up Gleyber to have versatility in the infield so he can play where ever we need him, 3 games at short, 2 games at third. 2 at second, off day. Pretty cool.

Yea I seen that too, sort of a round robin for him in the minors. Guess that puts entire infield on notice lol

He looked really good last night good pop in his bat for a tiny guy and some damn good range out in the field

Hopefully Headley getting off to a good start offensively, is a sign of things to come.

More teams should be doing this.

If anyone wants to ask what I think is the next big adjustment in baseball after shifts and closers in multiple/various innings, it would be the positionless player.

As in the player that can and will play anywhere to spell players.

This should be a must for all of the up the middle spots except catcher.

And I know there are players that do it like Ben Zobrist. But I mean an organizational effort to ensure there is a pipeline of these guys.

Cubs are doing it now to a degree with Baez and Bryant. It definitely would take an organizational approach. Seems like a lot of guys bulk up too much and get forced into a corner, then you have to work around them. I think there's a lot of up the middle players that could play wherever they wanted. Then there's also a lot of players that barely have the skills to play the position they're already at lol.

Lack of clutch hitting has killed us in the 2 loses, well Tanaka's bad start mostly in game 1 but there was several chances with multiple runners on base that could have made up that score differential, same in this game once guys got on nobody could get a hit to drive them in or string some hits together.

Not worried though things will balance out, the Rays always play the Yankees extremely hard regardless of talent and records

Bullpen has been solid. Offense a bit anemic. But the starting pitching is my real worry.

I can see losing last night. Just a bad game overall. Opening day should have gone better and would've if Tanaka had pitched well.

He really needs a good start to the season, to up his confidence.
