Re: **The Official New York Yankees Thread**

I'm wary of spending big money on pitching. Saw a Reddit comment that made me realize how volatile it was: when we started getting hyped for this offseason 3 or so years ago, there were supposed to be 3 aces (Kershaw, Fernandez, Harvey) and a bunch of other lesser pitchers. Now Kershaw has back issues, Fernandez passed, Harvey sucks, etc. I dunno it's just like can you trust free agent pitching anyway? CC was great but look at AJ Burnett.

What we really need is Sevy to stay strong throughout a whole year and Tanaka to be consistent. At their best, those 2 are near aces. Corbin is a great number 2. Those 3 at the top of our rotation at their best would be great. Then you maybe bring back Happ on a one year deal assuming the offseason is enough time to wash himself of the Toronto stink.

I want Bryce more to fill the hole in my heart that LeBron not coming to the Knicks in 2010 left. I don't know how it would turn out but the best case scenario is WILD. I want the Phillies to sign Machado so I can hate him.

Yea the free agent market isnt special. I'm not gonna lie I want Machado at 3rd. And to trade Andujar for an ace.

But right now looks like we are banking on rookies and essentially the same group. Severino made me nervous down the stretch and he's our supposed ace.

I want it all next year. I'm getting impatient. We have a large window. But this season was an absolute disappointment.

The Yankees have a wealth of young talented pitchers but I'm not sure I want to wait for Sheffield and German to come around. I want Gray gone.

We have all this talent. A good bullpen. But the starting pitching needs an overhaul. I dont know if Corbin is the complete answer. Would be a legit pickup. But the FO needs to be more aggressive now. Title 28 needs to be the focus.

It feels like letting Harper go would be a waste. But where does he play? Our outfield is as solid as it gets.

I think Machado is perfect for NYY. Hes balling out in LA under the bright lights. But I don't know if he'd want to go back to 3rd full time.

I think there is just alot of pressure on the Yankees and the FO next year. Especially if the Red Sox win it all.

I love this young group we have and I'd like for them to stick together. But if Andujar can't throw a baseball to 1st base. They have to figure out something fast. I'm not sure he could just stick at 1st base either. That dude is just a liability in the field. I wouldn't mind selling high on him. Even though he is an offensive beast.

It would have been simpler if Oakland Gray pitched in NY.

What do you guys think of passing on Machado, give Andujar another year at 3rd and making a big push for Arenado who’s a FA in 2020?

Sign Harper and move Frazier and a few others to get Bumgarner from SF

I too think spending big money on FA pitchers is fools gold, the playoffs are mostly bullpen games now, your better off picking up a hot hand at the trade deadline imo

MadBum's home/road splits are not appealing to me, especially not for the price. Feel like it'll be a younger Randy Johnson in NY saga. And I don't like him lol.

I don't see how Andujar is that god awful on defense. I haven't been that nervous with a guy throwing the ball on a routine play since Chuck Knoblauch was in pinstripes.

If he could just be league average over there. He would bring tremendous value. His hitting was elite for a rookie. His power will develop even more and hes a doubles machine.

I've always loved Machado. But I feel I'm the only one . Maybe I'm just in awe of how he always wrecks us anytime the Yankees play against him.

I don't think you're the only one that understands Machado's talent.

Andujar is good but Machado might be amazing.

The problem is do you need to upgrade good when you have average starting pitching?

No in addition. I said we need pitching first. Thats why I talked about trading Miggy. Not because I want to. But this rotation needs another big arm. Sevy is making me nervous. This guy is our horse. And we can't trust him in big games.

                        Hes almost Price bad.

I don't know if just adding Corbin is enough. I'm just not super confident running that same rotation out there with the rooks. Theres gonna be growing pains with German and Monty, Sheff etc.. We need another legit arm and preferably someone that can actually get deeper then the 6th inning for ffs.

Who do you suggest? Watching the playoffs anyone outside of Verlander is no more a sure thing then what we have now and imo not worth giving up top prospects for, hitting lost the Boston series not pitching, we had plenty of opportunities with guys on and 1 or less outs,, minus the blowout game we were 1 or 2 hits away from winning that series

It'll be interesting to see what pops up on the trade market. I would think Andujar, Sheffield, + would be a package you can start with in negotiating for an ace. I went to fangraphs and sorted pitchers by the last 3 years:

Really makes you realize how few aces there are. In the top 30, Keuchel and Corbin are free agents. We've talked about Corbin, I'm not sold on Keuchel unless he gets to pitch against us everyday. Happ is on there. Outside of those guys, the only actively out there for trade is probably Greinke, who doesn't profile well in NY and has us on his NTC.

Not really sure who's available unless teams start tanking and decide to have a firesale (maybe Kluber/Carrasco in Cleveland, Carlos Martinez in STL, obviously Thor or deGrom from the Mets, maybe Scherzer from the Nats). It's a sellers market for sure, not a ton of options.

In other news, I saw Manny grab his nuts at the Brewer crowd and he's moving into lovable ******* territory. I'm getting on board.
