I honestly thought Sevy's line looks much better on paper than it did when watching, I felt like he was hanging a lot of sliders and changeups and wasn't being made to pay for them for whatever reason. Maybe it's his other stuff fooling guys, and he did have some great sliders low and away and changeups down, but if you leave a changeup up over the middle to Mookie or JD, they aren't going to miss it. Also noticed he basically hosed them in the first inning with 9 fastballs and 1 slider and then immediately came out in the 2nd with a ton of sliders and brought the changeup out. Maybe bodes well for us going forward that he feels comfortable with them, just noticed because I figured he'd wait until the second time through the order to start going away from the heat.

Saw on Reddit but never really thought about it: how much would the Boss have loved Judge? He's even more Jeter than Jeter. I can see him in the locker room getting champagne poured on his suit, Yankees hat on...RIP .
Man that's awesome you were there. Just watching on tv that energy that place was absolutely rocking. It looked like yankee fans were part of the action. And you can tell the players fed off it.

Gary is going to heat up. He absolutely rakes at Fenway. It's like that Green monster is his target.. well over it.

I agree somewhat about Sevy. He did hang some pitches. But it was a gutsy start. And he really trusted his stuff. And hopefully it reminds him of how dominant he can be going forward.

One more thing. Luke Voit! It was a black hole at 1B. And then this guy comes along that AB last night against Treinen? Are you ****ing kidding me? That guy had so much movement on his pitches. It was outrageous. His sinkers looked like screwballs or an elite 2 seamer.

And for him to just keep fouling them off like that. And finally get something to drive was just gutsy as it comes.

This dude might be for real. Made some bad defensive miscues but he made up for it. He's made this lineup that much deeper.

One of the more fun sporting events I've ever been to. The energy last year and so far this year at Yankee Stadium during the playoffs has been incredible.

Can't wait for tomorrow night, the rivalry is certainly back

Oh no I wasn't there. I just meant the team got out with relatively little difficulty lol. When Judge hit that home run, knew we were winning. Anyone else hit it and we might've lost, but Judge going deep in that moment was a sign.

Happ has been great and has success against Boston. Price we own. And in general at home we are extremely tough. A lot of reasons to be optimistic depsite being underdogs.

I think this series could go either way. JD and Mookie scare me more than any guys in the league. Game 1 could be a real gut punch if we can take it. Like you said, Happ does well against the Sox so that's a good choice. Not sure what to expect from Sale, hope he's not his premium self and we can get to him early. I just feel like our lineup is so hard to hold down.

Absolutely, being underdogs got us 1 game away from WS last year.

Need 1 of the first 2 in Boston, I like our chances with a healthy lineup combined with a possible less then usual Sale and a #2 we have a good history against. Game one is critical but more so for BOS, if Sale struggles and they lose game 1, with Price going in game 2 knowing Sale is not himself they will be in trouble.

My strategy would be don’t let Mookie and JD beat us, make someone else be the hero, walk them if need be

How must Boston feel to have acquired Sale and Price to beat the Yankees and now the Yanks don't even have a regular starting left handed batter in the lineup anymore other than Didi.

I think if the Yankees take one of the first two the series is all but over. This team didn’t lose a playoff game at home last year, and I think they’ll be riding high after beating Boston 4/6 in the last month.

I hate to put this much pressure on Happ but if he doesn't go out there and dominate he's dead to me lol. His regular season starts were fine but this is what we got him for.

They gotta work Sale. Force him out early. Boston doesn't have the greatest pen minus Kimbrel. If we could get to the pen early. That would be nice.

Certainly not a terrible bullpen. But the quicker they can run Sale off that mound the better.

My thoughts exactly, unless it’s a meatball down the middle there should be nobody swinging at the first pitch. Plus if his velocity really is down I’d looking offspeed/breaking pitch and react to a very manageable 90-93 mph fastball especially if he’s behind in the count from trying to get you to chase something breaking out of the zone or offsped early in the count

Should have won this game. I don’t care what level of baseball from T-ball to the majors there is never, never an excuse for having bases loaded and no outs and you put 0 or a scrappy 1 run on the board, then to do it 2 innings in a row is just sad. Stop trying to hit damn HR’s all the time, it’s the one thing that infuriates me the most with this team at times and just baseball in general these days. Dammit!

Ok my rant is over, still just need 1 of these 2. Positive signs in the final few innings despite my rant above. Nobody else on this Bos staff is close to Sale, and the bullpen has glaring weaknesses. Let’s even this thing up tomorrow night.
