I know this is not popular opinion but I think the Yanks should dump Sanchez to get a quality pitcher this offseason. I don’t care how many homeruns he hits, heck he needs to just to get back to even with all the runs he gives up with his atrocious catching. His play style is lazy which is very un-Yankee like.

I can't imagine his trade value being very high though. Who would trade a stud pitcher for him?

I agree. I don’t think it’s worth it to trade him. They’d be selling pretty low on him. Maybe he could be used in a package for a good arm but he certainly wouldn’t be the center piece. I can’t see many teams valuing Sanchez very much right now. His poor and lazy play, his well documented defensive struggles, been injured this season, how many teams are gonna be interested in that? Maybe if they don’t have to part with much to get him.

I think the best option is to try and ride it out with Sanchez. If anything hopefully his bat will finally come around and rebound.

Maybe going into camp next year get him some work at 1B, if he can transition there it will help keep him from so many injuries and he still has a ton of potential hitting if he can just stay healthy and consistent. I will take his upside over Birds any day of the week, I think only reason the yanks even stay with him is he’s a lefty and a lefty bat is so much needed in the middle part of the lineup

Judge will be back tonight. I really hope he's ready to go, in terms of his health and performance. We really need him 100% for the postseason.

Reading Judge is not cleared to hit. Think this was simply to have him activated.

Feels good taking this series. Hope this leads to a rejuvenation of sorts. Everybody getting back and healthy. Hopefully they finish this month on a tear.

Yea, watching the last few games they look like they are starting to get that bounce back, getting more emotion into the games and most important getting healthy again. I said it before Boston is a better season team then the Yanks this year but I really think this team when healthy is magic in the playoffs.

They really need Giancarlo to find his swing I think. It seems reasonable to be virtually missing him or Sanchez, but to have both of them up there swinging at ghosts makes the lineup a lot shorter.

So, if it was your decision, who would you start in the Wild Card game? Severino, Tanaka, or Happ?

I say Happ. He seems to be the most sure thing to me. Severino and Tanaka just seem like risks, especially Severino. Don’t know which version you’ll get, the dominant one or the horrible one.

I would say Happ as well. He makes Sanchez less of a liability behind the plate, and he’s been consistent.

Tanaka has been pretty great as of late though until tonight. I'd go Tanaka or Happ. Leaning toward Happ. But you can't forget how great Tanaka has been in big games. He has a 1.44 era in postseason games. He was even masterful against Houston last year.

I'm just hoping Sevy is returning to form. Because we desperately need him for a deep run.

I’d go with Happ, he’s had recent success vs Oakland. I hear everyone on tv and whatnot talking about Sevy being the make or break but that was the case last year, he was the top pitcher in the rotation and got rocked in the WC game and pitched ok the rest of the way. The fact is there is no hands down option, if I was managing I’m making the decision based on recent performance both overall and vs the team at hand in this case most likely Oak. I’m not just going in with my best overall numbers guy as they are not a true reflection in the moment as they are accumulated over the season, many aces have done poor in playoff games, look how many times Kershaw struggled against STL, and he’s considered the best pitcher of this generation.

I think right now Happ is the guy, Tanaka has been solid 2nd half but he’s a long ball liability in the blink of an eye. Regardless the bullpen better be well rested and ready to go for the duration.

I’ve defended Boone throughout the year. But with under 10 games left, why is Cole pitching in the 6th inning of a two run game?
